Why use Bitcoins ?

Like what general investors in BTC have decided, its not meant to be used to buy groceries. Its a store of value

If developers agreed with that position, they would just stop working on scaling solution, and only fix some minor bugs. But that would make Bitcoin no different (except for amount of hashing power) from any altcoin, since they all have pretty similar structured blockchains and features that come with it. So, even if Bitcoin just an investment for you, you still should support changes that can one day make it a viable currency for masses, because that's what will give it the biggest value out of all cryptocurrencies.

All is see to bitcoin is a brighter future that is obviously open on further development. Bitcoin as a form of crypto-currency is a way or an option for people to have a purpose on transaction. It is more reliable and fast at the same time compare to fiat. And as a  part of technology bitcoin is more centralized in the market if people will choose to used it as a form of transaction on a daily basis. But the best part is bitcoin does have development in all aspect that is aligned to the support of the people so if we choose bitcoin and used it we develop it more.

I keep seeing threads on “why don't people” ? The real question to me is Why would they ?

-The average consumer will go way out of their way to save money. Bitcoins cost more.
-The average consumer will usually pay a little extra to have convenience. Bitcoin is less convenience and more hoops and complications.

I just cannot see any reason for the average consumer to use Bitcoins. Until average consumers start using Bitcoins they will just be an experiment and a small speculative bubble.

I have my personal reasons, I am interested Bitcoins them as a tech person, speculative investor and person that follows evolving treads and markets. I am just struggling to see any.. benefits for the average consumer at this stage.  

If you cannot see the benefits that is because you don’t want to see them, you can buy stuff from amazon in purse.io and get a discount between 10 to 20% on your purchase, if that is not enough for the average person especially when you add the fact that bitcoin goes up in value periodically then I do not know what to say to you.

Bitcoin ought to be treated like a asset. But you treat bitcoin as if its nothing.The price of  bitcoin is volatile.Its worth every penny for spending on transaction fees for, your transactions would be anonymous and no government controls it .The price hike this week is also a reason why bitcoin is an asset,just like gold or any rare valuable resources  and not some grocery that an average consumer buys regularly.

I think most people use bitcoin for profit, they follow the trend of the world, they start looking for other opportunities in life, and bitcoin is like a delicious piece of cake, they just give up a little bit money to buy, and they can eat a lot.

There is more to this hyped up story. Amazon with purse.io has very mixed reviews, fees and some risk involved. You buy the bitcoins at an inflated price you then buy a gift card that has a high likelihood of being purchased with a stolen credit card. If and when you get your product it will probably have no warranty or return policy because the gift card was non-transferable, if it was bought with a stolen card Amazon very well might come after you.

But seems as if the bitcoin bulls took it ran with it and feed it to the sheep and they happily ate it up.

Why would they? That's a real question that most of us cannot answer because we already see the value of bitcoin in terms of investment and whatnot. For the average and uneducated Joe, it will remain as another speculative bubble scams similar to the dotcom bubble and will stay away from it. For the general masses, whichever works is good, that's why they still use fiat. if you stay to learning how bitcoin works and decide to save it for long time. so just do it. forgetting about cost of transaction and complications many thing, because you decide it to investing. so you will got your profit in future.
but if you using bitcoin for daily transaction purpose, truly i have seen similar topic many times, where bitcoin comparing with paypal, skrill, and many other virtual payment, talking about cost high for micro-payment, long confirmations, different wallet, and many thing. so you need to thinking twice for using it.

Agree with you that it is good/easy payment system as well as most quick. I think running in the direction of wind is more helpful than running against the direction of wind. In the current era that man will be successful who gain the knowledge of technology and use technology as weapon to achieve their goals. I have made lots of investments and seen lots of speculative bubbles come crashing down. Bennie Babbies, Enron, Dotcom Bubble,,, lots of hype - lots of lemmings.
They have one thing in common the price gets bid up but they have no real use. Sound familiar.

The average consumer is the billions of people who spend and send money digitally. They spend a decent percentage of their money on online purchases tru Amazon, Ebay, large corporate websites. Currently they are using and spending tru Paypal, Visa, MasterCard.

in fact currently people are doing the same they are first converting their bitcoin in to fiat currency and then using it in local shops because in most of the places still bitcoin cannot be use as currency. to i personally converting my bitcoin into fiat currency and after that i use it for fulfilling my needs that i cannot fulfill by using bitcoin directly.
