Lightning Hub right here yes it requires bitcoind to be running on testnet at the moment and from my testing is working great there are coins that have announced will have working LN before the end of the year on mainnet and bitcoin should have fully working LN on mainnet first half possibly even first quarter of 2018 after extensive testing

Yes there will be big central hubs and you can almost bet all the big miners will also be running a LN hub as well as many node operators which there are 1000s but so can anyone at home if they wish

By running a full node or being a miner you are essentially acting as a bank right now helping process transactions
