You have still time to invest but the ico going really fast, more than 4 millions $ in a day it is pretty nice at the moment. A lot of people enjoy datum in invest in the project, I even think that datum will reach the hard cap.

I am not sure how much they have raised. When I posted the screenshot earlier today the counter was over 13000 ETH, now it is back below that amount.

That's strange.. counter that works backwards ?

Well anyway the counter is now on : 12,905.367 ETH
Not bad for a first day I'd say.

I'm sure it will go up a lot quicker if US and Chinese citizens are allowed to participate.

We'd like to have that too, but we also want to be compliant with the law so we're not shut down and killed off, and everybody ends up losing. Thank you for understanding!
I can't understand, we have KYC for this ICO, why do we not open this ICO for U.S citizens? I know the Chinese government banned the ICO field in their country, but U.S just limits this field instead of banned like China.

Probably because it would cost millions in legal fees to get it through the SEC.

Yeah that's the main reason you see so many ICO's not trying to get the US involved. Of course they'd love to have the massive user base, it's just not always feasible.

I've noticed they usually have "No US users allowed" or something similar in very small letters and hard to find. I think they're still hoping a lot of US users will come in and they won't be liable because they posted for them not to.

Yeah, that's definitely not by accident.

U.S. residents and citizens will be able to purchase tokens once they are on the exchange, as well as inside the app. We did not want to allow the purchase of tokens for practically the whole world, while U.S. persons would only receive a SAFT contract (similar to Filecoin, that still hasn't issued tokens to US residents). Once our public token sale completes, and the DAT token is listed - Datum will not limit any individual or business under the free market conditions.

You can read more on SAFT here, but it is not a magic solution for publicly- (or crowd-) funded projects on Kickstarter, IndieGogo or true crowdfunding for startups, such as coin offering or token sales.
https://www.coindesk.com/saft-arrives-simple-investor-agreement-aims-remove-ico-complexities/

You won't have to go through any US regulation doing it this way?

The application of Datum will occur as You sell your data to a particular Company, its use shall restrict the use of such data for future commercialization by the Company to whom you have sold, this decentralization of power will enable us to negotiate such data at and make the direct and legal negotiation of the owners of such data more feasible. There is still, of course, a huge amount of data available on the market today, but the more sensitive data like income information, medical data, allow us to compete for being more reserved. I still hope for an extension of Datum to the legal scope, making it truly restricted to each user's data, I hope to see this scenario

Great question. I can't see the individuals data being worth much, but that doesn't mean it shouldn't belong to us to do with as we please.

There are no stupid questions, only people that think they are smarter than others.

And you're right, we have absolutely no long term plans for this token. We only planed for about 10 years ahead. We're not even yet on the market, and there are hardware devices supporting our API.

We are grateful to all that believe in our vision, and the team is continuously expanding to enable just that.

Have a wonderful day.

How'd you come up with the idea for Datum?

TL; DR Version:

The three co-founders have several businesses (supply chain, robotics), and they were wondering how could they protect the data from hacking. Then, universal income referendum in Switzerland (Roger, Gebi, VC are all born and raised Swiss) happened and they were debating that every human has a value, because practically every human is being monetized through advertising / data collection.

Need to protect the data for the devices made, need to protect the data for humans, need to establish a new security protocol that enables safe data sharing... and an idea for marketplace was born. April 2016 became September 2016, then came April 2017, August 2017 with the pre-sale and we're now in November with two hardware devices, and many more to come.

Great question. I can't see the individuals data being worth much, but that doesn't mean it shouldn't belong to us to do with as we please.

Tevon and Luis actually built us a Data Calculator using publicly available data (marketing, Facebook, Google, Twitter ARPUs etc.), as well as some data estimates from data buyers evaluating the Datum platform.

https://calc.datum.org/

When will bounty compensation be released?

When the tokens get released. 4-11 December 2017.

Sorry if this has already been answered, I'm curious if you see any uses for machine learning with your platform?

In all honesty, many. But, I am not an AI/ML/DL expert, and I forwarded your question to Florian / Matt.

Roger's answer (no time for Bitcoin Talk forum, he's locked in a dungeon on the 9th floor working on Datum API):

"roger.haenni [7:48 PM]
Yes, especially things like NLP (Natural Language Processing) using Machine Learning for Chatbots etc, startups working on this need chat transcripts of real users to train their Machine Learning Models, with Datum they can buy chat transcripts from users."

This is very valuable information, it will help reduce the cost of some surveys and statistics. This is an integral part of life.
