It was nearly a one-person project at beginning. Despite the fact that months ago, back in 2018, ideaupdater wrote that he planned to hire others for the project, but by now we can believe that he did not hire anyone else, and the project was abandoned. Hope from time to time, and honestly, till now I don't "see light at the end of tunnels" for Masternode coin. However, you are likely right that no one can take over this project, except when ideaupdater decide to give the project to community.

At least Ideaupdater should have some decency and post that the project is closed because he can not carry on and will not hand out to the community because is not possible or any other excuse.

From two years people are supporting Masternodecoin for nothing and even lately somebody set up new explorer.

I am sure if there is something else needed community will do this but the problem always was and is with the developer and not the community.

Such a great moment to start again. Especially 3 months ago, until now everything would be back on track.

I haven't expected such behavior from Ideaupdater, but I can assume that he doesn't want that anybody counts exactly MTNC and this would happen by the swap.

Who knows what we can find when we do the MTNC math?

You can test it, but you can't transfer your coins to it (different chain) nor do anything else with it (I tried to mine on that chain, but that doesn't seem to be possible now).

There are many instances of community takeovers of a coin.  The main thing is to get the majority of the network to move to the community version of the wallet.  This will first require various things to be done in the code before the community release to ensure that the new team can manage the sporks, possibly freeze/block/take-over the old developer funds, and obviously fix any major bugs, before deciding a new roadmap.

I don't think we have a community member able and willing to do this. Especially if listings are lost and the old developer is hiding.

The developer has disappeared again - it has not been for a month already.  How he is going to revive MTNC with such an approach is unclear .. The main thing is that people have already made blockexplorer, there are a lot of exchanges for listing - but there is no developer.  What is the problem?

ideaupdater will appear or not, it does not matter. His appearance and actively status in the forum do not equal to any kind of significant development of Masternode coin project. It's a big matter for months, not recently. His last active day in the forum is around one month ago. No one knows what actually happen behind the scene with Masternode coin project, but what we have all see is that project has nearly ended with failure, and consequently big losses for its investors. There are so many opportunities in crypto, so if someone whom did not lost all their capital in the project, they should forget about this bad investment, think positively and try to gradual recover with other investments. Eventually, everything will be fine if they can gradual recover with their good investments.

I've merged the latest changes in the repo into my fork from the MasternodeCoin repository, but not tested if that is able to compile and run without issue.

I have now created a Masternodecoin Community Team organisation on Github and forked the repository there: https://github.com/masternodecoin-community-team/masternodecoin
I've applied some minor text changes (you can see the list of changes at https://github.com/masternodecoin-community-team/masternodecoin/commits/master - mine start today on the 7th July).

I will add access for others to commit code once we have actually formed a team and worked out roles, but you can submit patches as pull requests, or report issues on https://github.com/masternodecoin-community-team/masternodecoin and I'll take a look at them (but I would appreciate pull requests, as I am not a wallet developer).

In the long-term, it might be better to switch to a different codebase and perform a swap like IdeaUpdater was talking about, but this should be decided as a team and will involve a lot of work and preparation that I cannot do myself.
