I dont care about the mining and all because I am not mining.
What I care is the ones that are dumping coins , this is gonna hurt us all . I mean it is a steep fall from 18's to 11's which is a BIG fall when we are talking about 100k+ volume let alone millions changed everyday.
You should be mining.. maintains the network. Dumping of coins is temporary. Some of us don't have fast computers. I have a 4 year old laptop with a GPU that isn't recognized (ATI 3200 HD). I get at best 40 KH/s out of the CPU. Tried mining GLD only a few hours after it was released and got nothing. Or can you still help maintaining the network if you don't get any coins. I'd do it then. Been helping out with SETI@Home for years and I didn't do that to get money (well some galactic credits would be nice). hey tinus, my minings at 20kh/s and i am still plugging away in pools. minings not my main thing but its making me the odd coin I find I do better when mining dies....seem to get much more shares in the pools ....then when the pools pick up I reap the rewards.

According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in
Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it
will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)

what's the confirmation time for this one?
Bought some on cryptsy and I thought this should be fast one but 0 confirmations in 10-15 minutes.
It is very quick... but not now. Due to the network hashrate being attacked the difficulty went up too much and it takes time for it to adjust. The adjust time should be lowered soon and we should see fast confirmations! I don't need you to touch the code. Any alterations not approved by me are not deemed official. 1 minute or less block time being of any worth is a myth.
If you try to run modified code on this network your IP(s) will be banned by the nodes FYI. So do not experiment with it without generating your own genesis block, using your own ports, and you own IRC channel. This is automated.
So are you making the changes right now? The difficulty has been a blocked for a while now.. Making changes? No, we aren't going to hard fork the chain because of the difficulty. Mine the coin, and the difficulty should drop. Block rewards are 500 - this was done so mining was worthwhile even at higher difficulties of 30, 40 , 50, etc Eventually block rewards will only be 100. You can't just change the difficulty and block times on a whim. You have to hard fork the chain which can lead to disaster. I think a hard fork may be the only option here. The difficulty adjustment times are simply too slow. You may talk about block rewards offsetting the fact that mining is slow, but traders don't care about that sort of thing. Spikes in difficulty destroy the profitability of the coin.

An eventful 24 - 48 hours for GLDcoin to say the least. All a bit odd really! Anyway, I've just written an ' Easy GLDcoin Client / CPU Pool Mining Guide for Windows' over at: http://www.gldcointalk.orgSee: http://www.gldcointalk.org/index.php?topic=75.0You can help to support the GLDcoin network and earn a few extra GLDcoins in this way. Even if your GPU mining already. Cheers.

True. But if no one joins because of the long difficulty readjustment than it won't get longterm.

you guys are worried aabout trading WAY too much.
The coin's been around a couple of weeks, and was highly concentraded in a few hands.
Cryptsy is spreading it out. Some traders will profit in the shuffle and some will not but in the end GLD will be in more hands, with fewer people able to manipulate the market.
It's only going to take a few more days for the people who were buying it at .000005 to double their money and stop hoarding then the market can begin to develop.
Not everything happens at INTERNET WARP SPEED. If you want to see your efforts in the real world you have to work it until more than the users of 1 forum know about your coin. Anybody know what bitcoin was trading at when it was 4 weeks old? OK bitcoin was the first. How about litecoin price 4 weeks after release?
The trading price at this age of the coin is irrelevant. Volume is good and GLD is changing hands. If you're in this for anything besides flash-mining a quick buck then you need to see that it hasn't even really started yet. Giving up now because of a couple of forum trolls or the fact that a currency with almost no infrastructure isn't trading high against the BTC is really silly.
Spread the coin, build some infrastructure - the only way to gain market cap is to bring it into the blockchain via traders (a difficult and long term process to achieve high per-coin value on a coin used for nothing but trading) or for you to move it there by providing equivalent service and products for GLD instead of fiat.
Scrypt diff 7 is still easy. Generous block rewards are generous. Traders are trading. What's the problem?
I'm holding about 8k gold and still buying. That's my cash into your blockchain. Are you guys going to quit on me?

No, such info is not available. You can only check when the diff has changed on a website or two.
