The recommended mining configuration is completely absurd:
(from mining-hardware-config-testnet-v3.pdf)
2x Epyc 7402 ($2k each)
1x Epyc 7F32 $2k
1TB DRAM $4k
8x 2TB SSD $3k
3x Quadro RTX 6000 $5k each
I think I'll pass on this one....
The only "HOMgE" mining I recommend to people is the following 'Attic Mining'
You o to your attic...you find all the stuff that you are too lazy to sell and/or it has some value to toss away...so you don't..in other words, stuff you will simply
someday die with, already in your attic and goes on the estate sale for pennies on the $$$. You should 'attic mine' the hell out of it for BTC/crypto!
You 'somehow' get motivated to 'sell' the stuff in the attic on eBay and convert it to BTC/dust or whatever as you go thru the pain of slowly moving it out the
door on eBay.
So:
1) if we are all wrong and BTC/crypto goes full beanie baby we are DOOMED but at least I can make a rec room out of my empty attic and increase house
value by $10-15,000 USD.
2) if we are RIGHT and BTC/crypto goes full FOMO yet again up 4x 8x 16x etc..then we will have (1) above and all that nice BTC from our efforts of
'cubicle' boring eBay selling of the stuff we would otherwise die with.
Anyway, not like I've actually done the above, but hell it sure sounds like a 'dandy' plan though, doesn't it?
Anyway, this is the ONLY far-flung/practical/method to 'mine' anything from your home. I suppose a person on weekends and or retired could play this same
game with auctions/estate auctions/storage container auctions/rummage sales/ etc to expand on the above...
but again it sure sounds nice...but I have probably $5k of crap in my attic of stuff too cool to toss and nothing is worth less than $40 USD...but it is sooooo boring
anyway, when I think about getting a pow miner again ....and my home elec costs (about 14c kWh average) I default on sitting on my hands on the above.
Anyway, a fine plan for those with more ambition and organization than myself...
Attic Mininig ..dump on eBay and flip for BTC/crypto is the only way to home mine now IMHO.
(off to look at internet cats and not take my own advice above)
