JUST saw this in Mainland China 8:30PM on CCTV 13 news. The tone of the government sponsored media was neutral/positive.
Anyone got a link to this?

China's weary because it's so disruptive and new, but they also understand the ramifications of ostracizing the country from bitcoin and missing out on the potential boat.

One of the funnier common misspellings.

China, Russia, India, and South Africa and Brazil have long ago declared a pact to break up the US Monopoly on money (the petrodollar). Every time you hear of a "BRICS Conference" (Usually reported on RT or in other countries, not typically mentioned in US media) that is their main focus, to promote their currencies to the top and undermine the petrodollar.
This week we've seen examples of China and Russia embracing bitcoin... If those 5 countries all fully embrace it, to the point where their state-run media says it's a viable alternative to gold and paypal, then it really doesn't matter what the US laws say... Bitcoin will beat the USD in every way that counts and be here to stay.

This kind of attention by CCTV is bothering me.
My Mom asked me today about the trouble a "Bitcoin exchange" had with the U.S authorities, she saw it on CCTV, it's surrealistic.

why does it bother you? an incursion on what you are used to? or a feeling that there is something afoot?

why does it bother you? an incursion on what you are used to? or a feeling that there is something afoot? Uncertainty bothers people, and CCTV had a track record of against....pretty much anything liberating/progressive in the world. So I don't know who is/are behind all these, and I can't figure out their motive. I am with Bitcoin hell or high water, but it would still be a unplesant feeling if it suffers a setback in adoption due to some unpredictable events...

I CAN'T BELIEVE IT ! China actually broadcasted this on their fucking NATIONAL PROPAGANDA TV ! It is exactly as I predicted (a year ago or so) - Chineese are going to fight dollar with Bitcoin !Do you people understand the R.A.M.I.F.I.C.A.T.I.O.N.S. of this ? This is so huge... practically MIND BLOWING.

Exciting stuff. What's the overall gist of it? Same as before?
50BTC pool has a concept of teams. Until recently "overclockers.ru" (865GHs as of today) were at the top in terms of hashing speed. Now this list is topped by a new "avalonchina" team (1190GHs as of today). Gives food for thought. Oh, and that pool's speed has been increasing almost linearly from the 1st of April (from 5500GHs to 17000GHs)
Pretty sure it's a different one.

There is huge majority of engineers, technologists, scientists amongst the Chinese communist party leadership. I think like 8 out of 10 of the top guys are technical.
Maybe they just "get it" so do not feel threatened ... unlike western countries that have leadership riddled with technophobic lawyers, bean counters, humanities, polysci, MBAs, etc?

The stats here back that up: http://bitnodes.ioI didn't expect China to be number one - I thought perhaps Russia and then the USA. Not so. There is one thing about bitcoin - it requires you to have a functional logical mind, which the Chinese have in abundance.
