Bitcoin for Taxi

It is now easily possible as we are using online taxi booking service apps in our mobile phones and we can easily pay them in bitcoins if they start accepting it. The life would become much more easier if it could happen. I wish i could pay through my bitcoin to travel anywhere using any type of transport.

That would be very good. Though, if I remember correctly, for a trip that's around 8 miles or so would cost around $20 not including tips and the flag down rate. Would you be willing to pay for a $20 taxi ride with a fee of $3-$5? I wouldn't. Bitcoin is simply pretty much crippled as of now. The core developers need to fix the scaling issues first before we even need to look at global adoption ideas like yours. We, the people have so many ideas on how we can apply bitcoin globally, but these great ideas are slowly getting more and more impossible by the minute. Bitcoin is simply just storage value as of now.

In a regular taxi base maybe it would be not easy since they needed to have a system that will cater this service but with share a ride base like uber and grab or anything that use an apps its just an easy access to book a ride just needed to add btc as mde of payments,.

I hardly use taxis anymore, but yes I think it would be convenient for the riders. Uber allows its customers to have the fare paid using credit/debit cards and I think its very convenient shen you don't have any cash on hand. It would be better if they included bitcoin as a payment system, and if there was a way for you to connect your wallet to their system. This will add more options for their consumers, also if this was implemented by taxi drivers.

In my opinion, I don't think its worth spending your hardly earned bitcoin to pay your taxi fare. A lot of individuals earn their bitcoin through social media campaign, signature campaign, mining etc., which requires a lot of hard work and commitment. After all the hard work you still think its worth paying your taxi fare? Why not hodl for the best?

It is possible to happen, you can pay taxi with Bitcoin. for some countries Bitcoin adoption for taxi payment was long time began, since 2013 there are group of Taxi firm accepting bitcoin.

In my lifetime I have never taken a taxi, I travel using a bus service with cheap rates. Whereas taxis with expensive fare, I have to pay 2 x fold from bus fare. With the innovation of payment using bitcoin I do not agree because it will use a considerable cost with income Bitcoin is smaller.

Its good for long trips like paying for a plane ticket, cruise or maybe bus ticket for a very long trip but not on short trips for taxi. Imagine paying twice the amount because of the transaction fees that comes with the payment. Maybe a prepaid card will do that you can load up to pay for cab fare is a good idea. You pay only one when you buy the card and load up, then just swipe or tap when needed.

Maybe in the upcoming years the usage of bitcoin for taxi trips will be introduced. Right now bitcoin is gaining more usage as currency than the past days, so soon we can see such services. Now if the taxi driver is aware about bitcoin, the user might get the chance to use bitcoin for trips.

Totally agree with you, it will makes bitcoins be known by public and bitcoins will be used by public not for taxi bill only
more over bitcoins can be used for all of kinds payment method on daily transactions,
If it happen bitcoins will becomes real currency in the world with large of benefits the important benefits of currency in bitcoins
is the values will become more increasing and protect from inflation.

Yes! that would be a very good ideal and enticing as well.. why don't  we try that for a change. But I think it will be happen in the future.

I really agree in your thoughts,that would be a smooth ride for bitcoins users like us and combo with the airlines accepting bitcoins as payment for booking,this will be good for bitcoiner who loves travelling.

This would be a good one if will be happen because bitcoin is so convenience & easy to use this also good to target the people who really love to ride on taxi like me I love to ride on taxi  rather than bus, but for now its hard to happen why? because bitcoin is not totally know (accept) or legalize in some countries and the transaction fee is so high if your trip cost to 10$ + 5$( transaction fee) = 15$ its so high.
But I wish its will happen someday in my country.

If bitcoin worked as bitcoin should work, then it would be possible and great.
Bitcoin could be integrated into Uber or other Taxi apps, just scan the code and you are done, great!

Except that Bitcoin is now pretty much useless as a currency. Like someone mentioned, the fees are far too high. I wouldn't pay a $20 taxi with $26 everytime!  The transaction times are less important, as soon as it is broadcast they could accept it as a zero confirmations transaction, but the fees kill Bitcoin as a currency.

Segwit is active now and it has made little difference. IF the block size doubles, that should help in the short term at least.  Basically the number of transactions that can be contained in Bitcoin blocks isn't enough to allow for micro transactions to be economically feasible.  It's a shame as that was the main hope of Bitcoiners in the past, now it seems to be speculation.

It is possible and also convenient for some bitcoin users who doesn't have cash on there wallet.. And also it sounds really good to hear some suggestions that will promote bitcoin in our daily lives and I think it is good to bitcoin and to its price..

you can pay taxi drives (some!) already in europe!
the company my taxi from at least 1 year accept DIRECTLY bitcoin for a run!  I don't know if there are other similar service in other countries, but the company is based in germany and I use it in Italy.

Another way to pay taxi could be a ... credit card loaded with bitcoin.
It's easy to set up and works really fast with good rate and good level of privacy. But is not the best choice, because you are tracked in your expense, and some one could find your principal wallet/other wallets, and see how you spend your money.

Yes I agree. It will be great to pay Bitcoin for taxi. But transaction fees are too high, it won’t make sense paying taxi fare with Bitcoin now.

It is good if it is.But reduce transaction costs.At present we know coinbase email to email transaction system full free.we can use this and fill taxi fee.So what do you say?
