Its great idea, but not all people know bitcoin, so if the driver have his address then you can pay btc. It is depends on the driver if you both want bitcoin payment

i would love this i use the taxi service in my country couple of times during the day and the ability to be able to pay my fsre using bitcoins sounds like a perfect idea for me i only want the driver to trust me and not wait for confirmations as that may take lot of time

Using bitcoin in taxi is not a good idea, why? Tx fees anf tx time, bitcoin transfer fee are way too high the faster yoy want it to be confirmed to more expensive its fees are, But there are other option, Litecoin, Xrp, XLM, &any other fasr and cheap tx coin can be used by taxi's or UBER & other transportation vehicles as an alternative payment

Well maybe this thing should be resolve first before it can be implemented.
Or it can be sync or use our local wallets so the transaction is not too long yet the fee will be zero or just a little.
If this will happen, it'll be a great and more convenient to all bitcoin enthusiasts.

If it will be applied,there are more things they need to foresee first, thus the delays in transaction wont affect the schedule of the taxi and the passenger are they willing to wait or not, as well as the amount or price since the price of btc were not stable and changes from time to time that may cause their lose sometimes.

But tha fare rate should be stable whether the bitcoin price change. It shouldn't be affected by the fluctuation like the drivers shouldn't lose their income.
This should be analyze first by the company that will run as this is another milestone for bitcoin.

I definitely agree with you brother. I would like to see that happening in real life. That will only happen if BTC gets mass-adopted by the larger portion of our population. It could be far-off for now but it could definitely happen. Also, as stated by the above post regarding the high transaction fees paid to the network, it is indeed not practical to pay your taxi using BTC accompanied by high fees. Hopefully, this problem will also be solved in the coming months.

Actually i agree with you.  I would like to see that too in a real life situation because as you can see we are full of transportation and we are all commuters. It will help many people especially to those who has a bitcoin account , they will get easy on there payment.

No worries just use your local currency for conversion, lets use USD for example and the fare is $1, there should be a real time converter where you can be able to see how

much is $1 in bitcoin. then again another problem rises because you need an internet connection with this. This idea is not impossible but to be honest, there are way too

possible problems to be encountered. maybe if things got better with bitcoin and in bitcoin. right now the small payments are not encouraged so we should focus on the larger

ones rather.

Just consider the transaction fee, if you pay small amount for the ride i think transaction fee is much higher than to your fare then you think if you want to pay for the fare with high transaction fee or paying for cash without other fee.
But the concept is good if bitcoin has no transaction fee.

I think new to bitcoin, taxi payments using bitcoin do not seem to be done because bitcoin prices tend to be fuctuative because every time there is a correction. Unless there is a system that regulates tariffs and bitcoin prices.

Indeed. This will be a big help to all of us. Whenever we run out some fiat we can still have a back up.
But this thing needed some time to be able to launch, it needed some research and analyze what will be the pros and cons of this. So when they launch it will be run smoothly for both parties.

If there is a taxi service that receives bitcoin directly in my city, of course I will be happy. this is because almost every day I use the taxi service to leave and get home from work. hopefully more and more services can accept bitcoin.

i am pretty sure that the most of bitcoin users wanna give more 'fee' besides fare fee that they should pay for getting taxi. the fee transactions of bitcoin is depends with how much the fund of transactions, while you must have paid high fare for your taxi it means you also must pay your bitcoin transactions fee. it is not sounds good.

As far as I'm concerned, I can't understand the reason why people are so looking for using BTC as much as possible in day-to-day life instead of cash. Why is it supposed to be convinient? BTC exchange rate is always so different, so price of services and products will be very unstable

no i dont, if this mode of payment implement in my country as bitcoin pay your taxi-drive, it can cause more crimes, i mean some bad people are hunting down those bitcoin holder after he/she paid her/his taxi-drive (declaring hold-up). even this idea is a good to implement, we all knew that all bad guys are in everywhere at anytime, so its a life risky if this idea happens.

i am sure that there are many ways to prevent this and we need to secure our account if we want to pay with crypto currency. but i think if this is really implemented then we have many option to pay the fees. i see that uber is trying to used crypto currency and i heard in some country, people can try this with their coins.

that's right, there must be a rule about this problem if there are criminals who want to take our bitcoin.

For today's needs and with the help of the advance technology, it is possible that someday taxi will also accept bitcoin as payment for every services rendered but in my observations, doing some transactions like when you are able to transfer your funds it takes a couple of hours and there's a certain period or cutoff. If this things be done it should be well organize and properly manage on time.

This is a great idea, but as many people have noted right now it is impossible because of the high transaction fees/slow transactions. However, I want to propose a solution.

There should be a reputable site, something like taxi-btc.com or whatever, to where people who want to pay Bitcoin for taxi deposit $100 worth of BTC. Then when you pay to a taxi driver you don't pay from your wallet but pay from that site instead, and the site guarantees that the driver will receive the payment sooner or later. Thus the possibility of double spending will be eliminated and you'll be able to pay around $0.30 transaction fee because there will be no need to wait for the first confirmation.

Another option for lowering the transaction fee is combining many payments, which can be done by the site, and then sending it to a taxi company as one payment. But I think the latter can be done only in the far future when millions of people will be paying Bitcoin for taxi.

I don't think it's just high transaction fee or  slow transactions which is the only problem but it's also the price of bitcoin, it being too volatile buyers might suffer a great loss if or when the price of bitcoin drops significantly so I think we still need some other better idea to get rid of such problems.

Yes the high transaction fee and late confirmation are secondary problems. The price is the Bitcoin is the main and primary problem. If the price come down, then it is a big loss for site owners. And if the price is high it is a loss for users. This is also a disadvantage for site owners. How means if the price is high usually people will not use bitcoins to pay, most of the people will use local currency. Like this there are many problems are there first to solve this issue and next, we will think about this payment method.

But why? If you have Bitcoins and they are accepted by a service provider why wouldn't you pay in BTC if the price is high? Wouldn't that be a good situation for you? You'd have to pay less BTC for the same service?

And why it is "a disadvantage for site owners" if the price of Bitcoin rises after they were paid? If the price of Bitcoin rises it is not a disadvantage to anybody. Site should be happy because now they have more in fiat value. User should be happy because the coins he has cost now more.
