Whatever coin comes to existence, it will never  ever replace bitcoins.
Even if it has better features, btc will remain the leader as it's what came first and what people actually care about.

All other altcoins don't have any usage in real life. They are only traded against bitcoins for profits.
I still can't understand what kinda "features" you're talking about ? Btc already has all that it needs. If there are some issues, they may can be solved by applying improvements by the devs.

It's what introduced the blockchain technology to the world and all the others are just copying it in one way or another.

Lol this takes me back to a company called Nokia, remember them ? . Now these guys were the pioneers of cellphones and held the largest market share with their symbian os cellphones. Along came a new comer and announced that they would too launch a cellphone to market, that company was apple. They were ridiculed and scoffed at and continuously frowned upon for their Idea of a cellphone. Nonetheless apple launched their phone and the rest was History, where is that pioneer that thought nothing could ever replace it ?

Never say never........

Wow this might just be the best answer you give. Many people kept sticking to the old Nokia phones, parents didn't buy the nuw stuff to their kids because the parents did not use it either.
But at one point in time the opinion of the people changed and by now, everyone switched from Nokia to iPhone.
I think it's probable that cryptocurrencies can follow the same trend.

It's possible this could happen one day, but right now I am not worried about it. Perhaps in the future there will be one though.

Agreed with you, we can not deny the possibility. But that currency should have some additional features other than bitcoins; still it will take lot of years to gain the trust of the people and takeover the position of bitcoins.

What about DeepOnion? Apparently it is slightly better than Monero in some ways. It is new though and most people haven't heard of it, but it is growing every day!

The next Bitcoin? maybe one day there will be Crypto which will take Bitcoin seat, but many persons believe bitcoin. and to replace it need more than 20 years. There is Crypto which has great potentials in the future: Monero. Ether. Litecoin

Dear Bitcointalk community,
we all love Bitcoin because it has some great features, but what will happen when another cryptocurrency will be used as much as Bitcoin? Mainly because it has all the things Bitcoin offers but better?
I wrote an article about this idea on Steemit and I would like to hear the opinion of some Bitcoinveterans.
Please tell me what you think and don't hold back your criticism.

We have seen several alt coins coming out to say they are better than bitcoin but unfortunately they have not been able to live up to expectation. Let's just hope we see that one which I am sire everybody  will know but until then, there is no point going beyond the time and predicting the future.

well if that happens then we can be able to see a real competition between bitcoin and some cryptocurrency. but in reality it'll take a great effort and time to be able

to pull something like that moreover these effort and time doesn't guarantee anything, even if you spend countless months it doesn't mean success is already

guaranteed. to be honest there are already some cryptocoins who has a better features although not completely. i also agree to the others, discussing this doesn't

really mean much as its already impossible to predict something that will happen in the long future

Never say never........

Symbian vs iPhone vs Android - Communication, Bitcoin vs alts - Currency. Two different categories, though hypothetically have a similarity.

Nokia failed because they were too adamant to change their system through which they got dominancy and iPhone/Samsung tapped into it and it was a bit too late for Nokia to realize/act upon it, fruitless.

Do you know what was there before mobile phone? Telephone, Graham Bell. And in this context, bitcoin ain't iPhone, Samsung, or Nokia, it's telephone, you still use it, no matter what mobile you use, right?

Bitcoin already has Segwit, next would be LN, and then further implementations could be added according to necessity. As far as the bitcoin ecosystem including the users, nodes, developers, and miners say never say never it is never say never.

DeepOnion has great potential but BTC will still be a leader anyway. Several times the BTC was about to be defeated but it did not happen.

I completely agree with you this was just an example used that nothing is ever cast in stone. We can speculate as much as we want we will never now what the future holds. There will always be an opportunity for something else to take the place of Bitcoin or co exist in the same ecosystem. There will always be change, it might take years or even decades from now, the reality is that things always change, for this reason I reiterate never say never.

Ether has the best chance.

A lot of people in the crypto community who argue for the likes of Monero because of privacy - there's not mass demand for privacy, not yet, and unlikely in the very near future either. We're still a minority that value this.

I also wouldn't be suprised, if ETH overtakes BTC for a brief moment and this would be big news in the media. Hopefully Bitcoin will make a even stronger comeback after that. It's the original after all.

bitcoin is the father of all alt-coins so theres no one alt-coin will be much better than bitcoin, maybe the other alt-coin that has a potential to grow much value than itself before but to raise as bitcoin or will be much better than its father? i think its not gonna happen. maybe if the bitcoin died, there will be new cryptocurrency will born and thats the beginning of the new legacy of the new one from the legendary bitcoin.

You don't want a next bitcoin. Bitcoin was the first and will stay the first. You will have 21.000.000 bitcoins and you can divide those into smaller numbers. Everyone can own a piece of the cake. There are coins and tokens with other purposes. So you can see Bitcoin as the digital gold currently. While If they upgrade Bitcoin properly why we can't use it in daily world? Pay a cup of coffee and pay for your gas? If the transaction fees get lower those simple transactions everyone would start using Bitcoin for that. Right now Bitcoin is good for the bigger transactions.

Don't you think it's possible that there could be another Bitcoin? I mean everyone used to use Myspace... well not everyone, but millions of people. And then suddenly in a few years it went out of business and was replaced by Facebook - a much more complete social network. There have been criticisms that Bitcoin does not use all of the possible features a cryptocurrency can have. Maybe it is the Myspace of cryptocurrencies? Only time can tell...

Bitcoin will remain unbeaten initially until people fit into the system, it will take some time to get past it even though Ethereum is already around.

Yes, never say never because anything can happen because a lot of strange mysterious things happen this days. But bitcoin protocol or software are published openly and all other cryptocurrency developer around the world review the code and make their own modified version of coin.

Theoretically most of the altcoins that emerged after the bitcoin were intended to be the "new bitcoin" at the time, and although some of them have offered considerable improvements compared to bitcoin, none can displace it simply by being the pioneer and the most popular. If ethereum could not displace it despite its advantages, I very much doubt that any other will do so in the medium term.
