not just any alts will do. Find the ones that provide scaling solutions (aion) for blockchain as a whole, the ones with working products (sonm, aion, ethereum, vechain, adbank, ...), and find the ones with dedicated teams. Without those 3, any other project will fail

Go for top 40 coins form coinmarketcap. I would say now collect Bitcoin,Etherum,litecoin,Eos,ada,ICX,Dcred etc.all of coins is great potential and good for long term hold. but current market situation is not good, a lot of pump and dump happening nowadays.

This is most debatable question which is best crypto according to today market scenario. Because cryptocurrency have high volatility as compared to other investments. But if we study recent market trends BTC , ETH and EOS are  most profitable cryptocurrency right now.
