This is a very quiet thread.... When are the batch 1s supposed to ship?
After a very long wait and 6 weeks of late delivery for the users that first bought the lots when they became available in mid april, it looks like Avalon is now finally shipping out the ordered lots of ASIC chips. Supply reliability has never been a distinguishing factor for the Chinese company, luckily our production plan was scheduled by taking into consideration a 3 weeks late delivery of the chips and we’re still on time to maintain our initially advertised delivery of the first week of August for our batch #1 customers. This is a copy-paste from their news on the 26/07. Thank you.

it's indeed a sad situation for us all, including and probably first and foremost for bitmine.ch.
Everything depends on the delivery of the Avalon chips, but nobody knows if and when this will happen.
A price reduction, in what form ever, would be appropriate, because these machines now aren't the cashcows we paid for anymore.

You must be kidding! From the start of this endeavor it was obv that the biggest risk would be a delay of avalon chips.

In May nearly nobody had substantial doubts, that Avalon won't be on time and track to deliver their chips within the time frame stated on their order form. Their previous record was clean and their reputation untainted.
Do you think people would have hurled nearly 10 million dollars at them elsewise?

In May there was already a delay of their batch #2 so it was pretty obv that the biggest risk would be avalons chip delivery.
Also one user stated here in THIS THREAD after he had visited bitmine in JUNE that everybody has to be aware of that the biggest risk is Avalon.
So what are you talking about?
Additionally its obv not Bitmine`s fault if Avalon Chips are being delayed.

In my opinion, YES! Just take a look at KnCminer, Bitfury, and so on... no evidence whatsoever but people still invest everything they can. We are just some greedy bastards! On topic: It would be nice if someone from bitmine.ch came to this topic to post an update about the delivery of the chips.

We are just some greedy bastards! yes. Guess who are the ones making the biggest profit? Chip manufacturers and device assemblers, all thanks to those greedy bastards envying Avalon batch 1 owners anyway, still hope they are on time. An update would be appreciated.

There was a delay on the assembled Avalons, yes. But nobody could expect that the chip business would fold out to such a desaster. I'm talking about the fact, that the products we ordered and payed a certain price, don't have the same value for us anymore and wonder, if there is a way for bitmine to mitigate this. Which could probably help to keep people away from thinking about refunds. it's indeed a sad situation for us all, including and probably first and foremost for bitmine.ch.
Did you even read my post in whole or are you just picking out words? I am well aware that it's not bitmines fault, these guys have probably more cash at stake than any of us. We are just some greedy bastards! signed

I think the biggest difference for me was that back in May, I still believed the crap coming out about 'delays' for B2s. Evidence has emerged since then that Avalons were being used to mine for profit instead of shipping them to customers. My guess is the delay in shipping chips is likely to keep their mining profits high for as long as possible. Since there is no recourse for such 'delays,' we will just have to wait and see when they feel like shipping out the chips.

On topic: It would be nice if someone from bitmine.ch came to this topic to post an update about the delivery of the chips. +1 I guess they don't know anything more than we do. I expected to start mining at a diff. of about 40-45 mio. Bitmine offers refund till the device is shipped...it seems there is no danger for customers, but what will happen when most of batch2/3 customers ask for a refund...

I believe most of batch #2 has been delivered. I was one of the last to pay, and my machine left Beijing on July 2. Updated --- I apologize, I had a lapse of clear thinking. My Avalon batch #2 has shipped. I have not (yet) ordered from bitmine.ch.

Do you honestly expext Avalon to say:"Indeed you lost some BTCs cause of our mismanagment! Here you go. we give you some BTCs back." LOL! Thats not how this business works. Unless the fact that there is some treatment that lets them pay penalties for delivering late nothing will happen at all.

Any info on if Avalon clones can be overclocked without too much trouble? Is it just a firmware update via USB?

As I know from them overclocking worked awesome and it will be shipped with the overclocking firmware. I think the whole thing is flashable via Web-Interface as the Avalon Miners have a built in Linux (think it`s a fork of Linux router firmware).

did some calculations: lets take batch 2 without PSU but express shipping. that means 7039 USD. if you are not able to pick it up on your own and bring it across the border without paying VAT (illegal!) you have to pay the full amount to customs because bitmine will include an invoice showing the correct total. lets take 20% VAT for e.g. (lots of EU countries have more): 7039*1,2= 8447 USD -> PSU 250 USD = 8697 USD. batch 2 will arrive early september if there are no further delays from avalon: diff. will be at least 60 mio. calculation done with overclocked unit with 110 GH/s. I'm sure the diff. will increase about 45 %/month (~15% each cycle) for the next few month. http://btcinvest.net/bitcoin-mining-profit-calculator.php?diff=60000000&dcosts=8697&diff_mincrease=45&blpbtc=25&dhsmhs=110000&btcusd_mincrease=0&btcusd=90&dpowcon=1000&dleadtime=0&pcost=0.30&calcweeks=52&action=calcreaching break even: NEVER -> asked them for refund or discount offer to all batch 2/3 customers.
