Well you can buy games with bitcoin for some years already. The biggest known exemple is STEAM , who accepts bitcoin since 2015 if I remember well. Also new coming platforms are starting to accept bitcoin and also new projects based on blockchain tech are joining the gaming industry.

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

If this happen that many of online games accept this kind mode of payment will be a great idea. Many of us here play online games to make their self bussy a little moment and have an exciting thrill game. In that case, I think it will boost up the bitcoin user cause many of the gamers did'nt know what is bitcoin all about. It will help spread the word Btcoin.

This would be a very good opportunity if bitcoin can be applied to many online games. we know that nowadays most online games always offer a charging balance to be able to buy certain items. as well as leading game developers such as steam that always apply this system. with the hope that the application of bitcoin will certainly increase the bitcoin user sector. the gamers will become very familiar with bitcoin and they will find out what bitcoin it is. this will be very helpful for the development of bitcoin.

Like the wallet we use hear in the Philippines, namely coins.ph has an option if we wanted to buy game credits such steam, cherry and Level up. It is good idea because a lot of gamers doesn't have time to visit any 711 store or card store just to buy top up cards. This would help a lot of gamers to spend less time in looking for a seller.
Exactly it was good especially for those gamers because it is less hussle for them anytime they wanted to have a particular game. Whenever they are they can easily get the game they want to play. It is good also not only for the gamers but for those people who want to try a game that they think was adventorous. I dont need to go on a shop just to buy that game if this was now available.

Well, the transaction fees will be too high for micro-transactions like skins, weapons, virtual currencies, etc... Especially for mobile games. Plus, the number of raw transactions will be way too high, there's like 2 billion smartphones nowadays. Do you really want to flood the bitcoin blockchain like this ?

Using alternative currencies for online would be a better solution. Plus, you could add really specific features. Just look at Enjin, it basically gives a way to trade your in-game items in a peer-to-peer fashion, without having to rely on the official servers. Like, if a pokemon game (pokemon go, for example) uses EnjinCoin to power up its transaction system, it would be possible to trade pokemons like a real pokemon trader, like, your wallet will have a pokedex-like interface and, yeah, within seconds you can send your pokemon on your friend's cellphone. Like, ehm, pokemon go, but with, ehm, better playability and social mechanics.
Enjin is the future of online gaming.
it creates a side-chain for any item, and makes generic conversion, so that you can trade it with any other side-chain token. Ka-boom. No traffic congestion. Endless retro-compatibility. Forks possible for updates, or for server tests, you can easily do anything. And you can't get stolen by random chineses farmers who got access to your account, because now you also need the wallet private key to do so.

The Ethereum team also wants to create a mobile cryptocurrency. They did it on a completely new blockchain because there's too much potential users for such a cryptocurrency. Billions of users. We need another blockchain for that.

AltCoins can be useful this way, but you don't need to make small transactions of BTC if you want to use the main Crypto-Currency. If the games start accepting BTC to buy in-game items you would have your balance on the site, so you could send a higher amount of satoshis to make the transaction worth. Not necessary to spend all the money at once. Also, if it's hard to see sites accepting BTC, now imagine how hard would be to see these sites accepting AltCoins...

I think it would be very useful for the gamers but maybe not so useful for the people who sell the games because the price climb or dump all the time.

And @mrcash02

I do agree with the fact that sending more BTC would lead to less pricey fees. Furthermore, yes, prices would then be kinda.. up and down, i guess ? Well, it's true, since crypto have been swinging a lot (at least, until now).

However, digital goods are not so costly to produce, when you are a multi-national company. For example, when you buy a digital version of a game instead of the CD version you can buy in your local game store, it only cost about 10% of the physical price.
The thing is: yes, the money they'd make by selling games via cryptocoins would be fluctuating a lot. But it's free money anyway, and in the end theses cryptos tend to have crazy investment returns.
They could just put fixed ENJ prices, one where everybody would agree to pay, and problem solved.

ENJ would be cheaper anyway, that's the concept ^^

There was no method in the past but now online games can accept payment with bitcoin. Actually, there is an advantageous situation. Because when the price of bitcoin drops, you can pay for it at a cheaper price.

It is actually my ideal game where you can trade items for bitcoins and vice verse. But the pricing would be difficult (rarity of the items and such) because of the unstable price or value of bitcoin.

I need your opinion about having bitcoin for payments in online games, it is good or nah?

Using bitcoin as payments for in-game items and upgrades is very useful since many people are capable of technology devices though bitcoin and online games are done by computers.

I thinks its very efficient for me as a gamer and a bitcoin user to have a transaction or payment like that.

I absolutely support this one which gives me an ease on buying in-game items. This would avoid the multiple transaction(from BTC>Money>Game Currency) and bypass the middle one which give me less of a hassle. Though this is good on end-user side it will make a great impact the game publisher because bitcoins is still unstable with constant change in value which is not favorable on them.

BIG WINNER!

There are already several online games that are already using bitcoin as a means of payment for their platform and the most popular one is Steam. This is a really convenient way for the players who want to do top ups for the game they are playing but has no reloading center near them.

There are dedicated altcoins that you can get for those purposes e.g. mobilego for mobile games, or SKINCOIN for various dota/CS skins. Some games have their own dedicated currency specifically for that one game

Yes steam is one of the online gaming platforms where you can use your bitcoins to make purchases. A lot of gamers find it convenient making in app purchases and buying consoles with bitcoin but there aren't many merchants allowing that yet.

It's a great addition of course. That's why Steam, the biggest gaming platform, already enabling wallet top-up with Bitcoin. The industry revolving around online gaming like in-game item trading, match betting, gambling, etc also use Bitcoin as the main payment (withdrawal and deposit) method.

So far only steam game that allows bitcoin as a payment that i already know but if the other gaming platform accepts bitcoin as a payment for their game it could be too easy for them to get the money that they want. Although there is already the existing payments options such as: Paypal, Credit Card, Debit Card etc. It is still a good choice if they include bitcoin for their payment options.
