Hello

Does anyone know or can reccomend the best way to store passwords? Is there a program you can use or a way to encrypt a file with all your passwords on it?

Thanks
The safest way to store your password? Your mind! No one will know what's on your mind. Keep it in your mind and the important notice on your family that you have funds(money) on your mind. You can use your laptop for keeping your secret, write it down to your notepad then save, copy into other hard drive to have a back up. It is one of the important in logging in your account.

Your best bet would be one of two things:
Like ask pointed out one of the safest ways would be to just keep all of your passwords in a notebook, nobody can hack those.

Otherwise you can also use VeraCrypt or OpenPGP to encrypt a file with all your passwords. Just beware of any keylogers on the machine any machine that you use to decrypt the file.

I'm starting a technology blog T4CH.top, check it out!

I use KeePass for many years, so I'd recommend this program. It's quite easy to use and you'll never loose your passwords or other sensitive data.

Most are saying write it down but I think it's probably best to make a copy just in case something happens to the original and stored somewhere away from the original.

EncfSMP is also very useful it can encrypt entire folder and everything you copy in that folder is automatically encrypted.

there are and many. but it's basically hard to steal someone's password, it needs a special technique to do it. so you do not worry too much,
not like on a television screen, so easy the hakcer steals or breaks. I dont think so. because I've studied in the field of security.

Which passwords do you need to keep safe?

Anyway, I can suggest 3 ways:

- a piece of paper, with your passwords on. For extra safety you may insert wrong characters into them, so that, even if a stranger will find it, he wouldn't be able to recover your funds.
- an encrypted file, stored in an encrypted USB, never connected to the Internet.
- your brain. This is the safest way in my opinion. Because no one can steal, crack or hack your brain... the downside is that you need to have strong memory (and I know many people who don't have it).

My suggestion is never use easy password as like your name your brother name your mother name your birthday one of the your mobile number. This is a best tips use 2 step verification . Most important way to safest is 2 step verification with your personal mobile phone.
Most of the time is easier to create a passphrase, creating a difficult password can be ideal but it can be very difficult to remember but if you create a passphrase it is going to be very difficult to guess it and at the same time it is going to be a lot easier to remember it for you, also if you feel like it and the website allows you using 2 step verification is very useful as well and it will make it harder for a hacker to get to your bitcoin.

for me classical methods are better for store passwords. i mostly prefer to write them on paper as i have 2-3 copies in different notebooks.
moreover, this helps to keep on my mind passwords after a while.

Delete your password from your local device and upload it to your mail. Like to a gmail account. This is safer and and you don't have to worry losing it.

You need to change your mail password and you need to set a authentication to access it with your phone only.

I didn't use any program to save my password. I just made only one password in all accounts like in gmail, facebook, instagram, bitcoin, etcetera so that I will never forget it. But sometime when I first time to log-in in any of my accounts using my cellphone there is a pop-up message that asked me if I want to save my password or encrypt it with google then the next time I logged in password is already read.

This is close to what I do. And I think it is a better way than getting a software that remembers or stores one's password. That can be dangerous even given the notoriety of hackers and scammers this day. However, I don't do the bolded. Its scary and dangerous. I don't like leaving password on phones or computers because of theft or loss.

I don't really recommend you doing this. Making an analogy with bitcoin, one of the things that make us like it and consider it safe, it's because it's decentralized. By storing your passwords in a file, even though it's encrypted, it's the same as centralizing very sensitive information. If that file ever gets hacked, you will be giving access to all your passwords, and when you discover it, it could be to late.
If you really want to stop passwords, I think a piece of paper would be the best approach, and then you should keep it in a safe place. It's exactly what people should do with seeds from bitcoin, so why not with passwords?

The best way to create and store passwords is by using a hardware wallet like ledger or nano s. The password(seed) is created outside of the operating system and hence is not suspectable to get hacked even if there is malware on the system you are operating. If you cannot afford a hardware wallet or do not want to buy one for any reason, I suggest paper wallets, Make sure to use a diff system to create the seed and not the one you use to study or trade crypto.

I have my passwords stored on a usb key at home and written down on a piece of paper. I wouldn't really trust softwares especially if they are free.

The best way to use 2 factor authorization on electronic purses and storing them passwords in a notebook stored in a safe. But even these options may not give you 100% guarantee of security. Scammers are always watching you and in most cases you provide them with information.
