If I had to hold something for 2-3 years without any possibility of selling I would make these considerations:

1. Only invest a very small amount. New more promising projects will definatly come around and I would rather wait for those.

2. A lot of coins/tokens/projects will be dead and abandoned in 2-3 years. How likely is it that the project will be replaced by something more "shiny"?

3. Because of 2, I would look for projects that have already survived for years, that still are under active development, but with a small marketcap.

Peercoin is a good candidate for this kind of, "buy and forget", investing.
Very clever indeed! Having always space for some new project that can give benefits is smart. There is no denial in the death of some crypto coins within next two to three years like bitcoin cash is not having very good time nowadays but we have some options rather coins that will definitely survive for next 2 to 3 years.

Altcoins that secure top positions and have been in market for a long period now like ethereum, monero, litecoins, waves can bring huge profits.

Hi,
Firsts of all, for your 2-3 years period :
 1 - XZC : ZCoin (not ZEC - ZCash)
 2 - LBC : Lbry
 2 - XMR : Monero
After, for the beauty of the projects :
 4 - MNE : Minereum
 5 - ARTE - Artemine

you can buy NEO,DGB, SC or ETH for long term...during volume of coin is always stable that safe enough for long term, becouse the most important the coin never delist during holding.

I think etjereum is still the best altcoin to hold for many years. None of other coins can be close to it. Also there are coins loike omg and neo which has huge future potential that I enjoy to hold.

I think if you hold Ethereum it is very promising because Ethereum is a good altcoin for long-term hold.

I really wouldn't invest in altcoins right now (October 2017). Everything has been thrown into a mess because of the bitcoin price surge that makes it hard to do any technical analysis. Personally, i suggest you just get on the Bitcoin pump train until after the Bitcoin Gold "dividend" (October 25).

Afterwards, here are my top 5 altcoin picks:

1. ETH
2. OMG
3. NEO
4. ENJ
5. SIA

Caveat - do your own research on these coins first.

Altcoin buy is totally depends on some experience of any particular coin that coin value is decreasing or increasing to one side and what is main purpose of coin and what technology is using coin for transaction. every body have some favorite coin which he is always suggested to buy because he know the data of that coin and he know what price is best to buy particular coin. I like DEEPCOIN,RIPPLE ABY DGB,NAV,RDD and PURA. These coin will hundred percent grow with in 2 and 3 years. any one can collect these coin at any price for huge profit.

I would recommend you to hold waves and civic. Waves is one of those projects which will surely grow in future. Many people believe that waves will replace ethereum in future. You can expect high returns from waves.
Civic is a project based on low cost identity verification. I think it will be very popular in future and its price will surely double itself within 1 year. You should hold these two coins.

I advise you to hold ether and wave. Because ETH & wave have own exchange and it's price grow rapidly. Its will growing continuously in future. ether is a only one competitor of btc and wave is competitor of ether. So I advice you to hold ether and wave too.

2 years is a lot of time for the crypto market. I predict there will be many coins in the top30 that don't even exist today. With that said, i think Ethereum is a must in any long term portfolio, and i would also pick some promising coins with good development progress.

Here these coins xvg and new are better option for investment but still you have better option also for the investment Because the coins that you mentioned to buy are better but they will needed to rise long time because they are already at Average high price .
Here you can choose bitcoin cash which is available at very low price , second one is ETH coin  which is currently available at 0.05+btc/eth , third coin is dash and fourth Coin is Digibyte which is available to buy at 190 Satoshi /bgb coin .
Here I told you about those coins which have great power to spread magic soon .
Here Digibyte has really a better prediction to have price about 10k Satoshi per Digibyte coin .
So you can choose According to your need .
