You are forgetting of the father of the most coins. If ICOs get regulated and it delivers the first TRUE PoS success, Ethereum will rule the altcoin market. That's my opinion ofcourse.

I agree with you ETH is the best altcoin I know, and by holding ETH for the next 2-3 years of course this will have a chance to profit from the that investment, and I believe even though the current price of ETH is decreasing but in the next few years it will experienced a significant increase.

I'm planning to do the same. I'm also holding XVG. Aside from that, I have Ripple, SiaCoin, Ethereum, Digibyte and Burst. There are lots of promising altcoins out in the market. I have high hopes that they will pump big time in a few years especially Ripple and Ethereum. I also wanted to add more altcoins and participate in different upcoming ICOs.

Yes this is your great idea , if you hold some of the altcoins for 2-3 years ,even you did not have to wait for this time to complete and you will see tremendous increase in your money , lot of people are doing this type of business by investing is some coins and selling for small increase .

Holding coin for long term it's absolutetly profitable but it depend on coins you hold. If like Ethereum or Token based on Ehtereum token have bright future i think.

I'm losing hopes on waves , it's already been down on 0.00067862 btc price. Sadly, I bought my tokens when the price is at 100k satoshi.
I wish I could turn back and buy on this time and have a better chance to double my funds when it goes back at that price again. Too much downward slope on waves price graph.

Ripple is making progress no doubt. It is working on the speed and it should also because many banks are supporting it. In this sort of business, you can't make your customer wait for long. This is what I don't like about Ripple.

You want coins that have some sort of mix of good developers, an original purpose and a strong community.

Ethereum is the big daddy of the altcoins for good reason.  Its smart contracts reshaped cryptocurrencies as a whole and it has firmly established itself as the king of the alts, a role that is not dissimilar to Bitcoin with respect to all the alts.

Waves is another that I think could be a wonderdful investment.  I personally own zilch but its platform is widely used and I heard there are some major developments in the works (announced).  I need to read up on it to be honest.

NEO is a coin that I go back and forth on but its platform is being adopted by other coins and its first ICO with their protocol appears to have been a success.

Deep Onion is a long term hodl because the project has been pushing out developments like Deep Vault that allows you to verify documents uploaded to their wallet are unchanged, it utilized the TOR network and even hides your IP on the blockchain.  Privacy coins are all the rage right now but Deep Onion stands out amongst them. 

OmiseGO is my last altcoin that I'm sure is destinied for greatness.  It's already being (or about to) be used in the real world, including some McDonalds in Asia.
