Selling alts at this point is a huge mistake, we don't know yet if the new fork coin they call it bitcoin gold will have the same support as BCH had, BIG Wu had more than $500 millions to keep the coin alive, who is behind the new fork? I wish that Core devs could've (would've) cloned the same BCH and BCG and let the community to decide. after all if open source projects had no value because they were giving the ability of cloning to anyone, they are good for times like this new fork

nope. the forks will prove to be worthless or won't happen at all.
you'd make far more money scooping up cheaper alts. in certain cases they're crazily undervalued compared to the past. that does of course presume they'll be worth the same again in the future and maybe each bitcoin fork guarantees that.

I took the question to mean should they sell altcoins and put in in Bitcoin before the fork.
If that's the question, then I'm wondering the same thing. Seems like Bitcoin Cash was free money if you had any Bitcoin sitting around.
I plan on keeping the alts I really believe in (DeepOnion) but selling some I keep floating around and loading up on Bitcoin before the fork. I have some XRP I have that I'll probably flip into Btc and then back to XRP after the fork. Just my two cents.
Before selling alts it's important to determine whether free coins will be granted in the upcoming forks, I believe. You are saying bitcoin cash was a free money at the time after segwit but I though people got to choose between spending their btc as btc or as bitcoin cash, so it's not like they could have both, right? Thus, as our btc is still #1 and is not likely to be beaten by forks, I guess there's not much use in putting money into bitcoin before the fork specifically.

Yeah you could sell some of your alt coin and buy Btc before hard fork as after hard fork you'll get bitcoin gold for free

It seems to me that most people now do that. All altcoins are falling, while bitcoin is eager to 5000$. After hard forks I think all altcoins will soar again, and the bitcoin will drop to 3K $.

^ stop panic sells, actually, people who do panic sell that lower the price of the coin. so please do not be too panicked when hardfork happens. hardfork is often and not to make a loss, so do not panic.

A good project will still be a good project whether btc forks or not, why would you sell?
That's what I also think.

I think the best tactic is to buy some altcoins just before the fork, as their price would be rather low, and then wait for x2 and more.
Yeah this is the right thing to do i think, unless you have a lot of btc and want some bitcoingold. I would choose to buy now and i think you will profit in a couple of months.

Taking into account that bitkoyn takes first place in the list of crypto-currencies, I support other projects, because I look at two steps forward. Young coins, I do not hurry to sell, what will be their price in 5 years. wait and see

People love easy money that's why they are converting their altcoins to bitcoin now to get free bitcoingold, I would also do that if I have enough money because that is free and you will not risk anything. The first fork was successful which is the BCC and now people are too eager to earn more so it has really affected the altcoins market. This is just temporary as after the fork everything will be back to normal.

Seems like a personal gamble at this point that could go either way. I think most people are going to keep the alts that they believe in (for me, Deeponion and Neo) and sell off the ones that don't look like they're open to market improvements to maximize the btc fork. Honestly this is something that I should have done for Bitcoincash but unfortunately I wasn't really thinking with this strategy in mind. Hopefully I won't regret it with this fork, either!

With the experience of Bitcoin Cash, lot of people are selling their altcoins to get more Bitcoin to have a higher share in Bitcoin Gold airdrop. But I personally don't sell my altcoins that I have hold them for long-term because of Bitcoin Gold.

People, I have a strong feeling that there might not be segwit2x hardfork, and that they are doing all this just to scare people and get as much bitcoin they could...

Hi guys, in your opinion, it's time to buy or sell this sh*tcoins? That's what people are doing right now, they want bitcoin gold so they are dumping altcoins and crashing the market. After they get bitcoin gold, there is likely a chance for alts to rise and you will see bitcoin gold being dumped immediately. This time also it's kinda going to be like how the first hard fork was signalled, bitcoin cash was dumped by people who claimed it. But then the question is that who will support bitcoin gold like how bitmain supported bitcoin cash.

If you are a player hold it if not sell it .. I also would let people know that they should be purchasing more Bitcoin if they plan on making some Bitcoin when that Forking happens later.

Indeed, if anyone wants a free Bitcoin Gold coin, which should appear as a result of the next fork from the bitcoin separation on October 25 in a purse with the original bitcoin, then it must have this bitcoin for this. It can be obtained either by investing, or by transferring funds from the altcoins to bitcoin. And the supposedly appeared coin will also have a decent value - somewhere at least $ 500. Some show the merits of the new coin, including that it will be available for mining on low-power graphics cards to miners, others have already begun to call it useless. We will see, we will estimate. There is no need to hurry.

dont worry to much with the fork. as long as the project is good i believe it will somehow survive against the fork. there is indeed an effect cause of fork but as long as the project well maintaned and keep developing just worry not my friend.
