you are in an equal position and can do the same, so no complain.

The problem is when at lower diff it's like instamine so most people will get orphans.

If I was a douche that enjoys stomping on the early adoptors, then yes... I would join a multi pool.

Dont mind me.. I'm just sitting back eating my popcorn. Wink

Make sure you back up your wallet regularly! Unlike a bank account, nobody can help you if you lose access to your BTC.

2. Set the allowable change factor much lower, say each diff change is allowed only 5%-10% (instead of a factor of 4, or 400%), this way the big diff block won't disrupt the normal diff calculations.
The 5-10% diff increase/decrease factor may result in that if a lot of blocks is mined while high difficulty, and hashrate drops significantly, in that there will be long time between blocks in order to reach low difficulty back. I think that up and down factor should be left about 100% to prevent instamining by increasing hashrate rapidly and then recover in reasonable time.

Infinitecoin Developers need to fix this diff/adjustment problem quickly, miners are giving up on this coin. As of right now diff is extremely high and network hash rate is over 2.5ghs, the pool I usually mine in is completely abandoned (I have never seen this pool without at least a few miners working). I have been mining this coin quite regularly, but it's not worth it like this, coin diff is to unstable and unpredictable for me to mine with any confidence. You can not expect us loyal miners to waste our time and resources forever, this is starting to get a little ridiculous. Please fix this coin soon before it is left for dead, time is of the essence...

Ok I'm in sync again, I wish there was some central place that listed all the coins and update info. Instead we have a million posts in a forum with different version numbers for every coin. Its so hard to keep track of all these updates that need to be applied in such a short period of time. Leave things for a day and an update means you're mining orphans.

what's up with IFC ? 1 block diff change is working very well on other coins

( block times staying consistent even when the hash jumps up 1,000,000kh so not sure why IFC is having this problem )

I agree with the sentiment here too! I had been mining IFC for weeks until yesterday morning when the diff began yo-yo'ing between 0.9 and 80+. Burning resources for over 3 hours without a single IFC was very disheartening so I have moved all my hashpower over to other coins until this gets fixed. The usual pool I mine IFC at has now not found a single block in over 10 hours! Not sure I will even hold onto my stock of IFC, it might be worth nought if everyone gives up on it at this rate.  Sad

Omg, this new algorithm is terrible.
I'd propose swithing to ppcoin's algo.

Yes I guess the PPCoin algorithm is better than this linear algorithm, which seems cause big oscillations.

It is surprising yet understandable: for IFC 120 blocks take about 60 mins by design. If two consecutive blocks took 50 mins, then when they enter or leave the 120 blocks used for retargeting, they cause huge changes for the next target, which cause this oscillation.

Two possible ways to solve this:
1. Use PPCoin algo, which is exponentially approach to the desired target, so it is not linear.
2. Set the allowable change factor much lower, say each diff change is allowed only 5%-10% (instead of a factor of 4, or 400%), this way the big diff block won't disrupt the normal diff calculations.

Number 2  please, ASAP. Should have been included with 1.5/6

EDIT: On closer examination I support #1 over #2.

I will fix the issue. Apparently linear retarget is not working. I am doing some pototypes to make sure the new algo will work. Expect a new client coming out soon to fix the issue. I will give a 2-day lead time for switch. Thanks all for your patience.

Version 1.7 is released. ** This is mandatory upgrade ***

Version 1.7 fixed the diff retarget issue using PPCoin retarget algorithm, which proved to be a stable one. The switch will happen at block *248000*. We are currently at block 246302. Estimate about 2 days to reach there.

This is a mandatory upgrade, please upgrade as soon as possible. The download links and source in github are both updated.

Hope this is the last update we need for a while. Sorry about the inconvenience and thanks for your patience.

Is this pool working correctly?

aTriz stratum pool:
http://ifc.scryptmining.com
stratum+tcp://mine-ifc.scryptmining.com:8112

In the last round of craziness the pool got a lot of blocks, but I see my shares are mostly zero in these blocks, even the one found by myself says zero shares of me, aTriz can you check if the pool working correctly?

Good news ! Happy to read that.

Can someone compile some binaries ? That would be great.
I think infinitecoin.org should also be updated with this news.

Currently multpools are instamining a lot of blocks and static hash rate is low creating transaction backup once the multipools leave after driving the difficulty up. 1.7 is designed to fix this.
