Can someone put this on a file sharing site that doesn't force you to install spyware in order to download files? I did message the dev and offer to host a copy on my sever and he declined the offer

Does that fix really solve anything?
I mean, if Cryptsy is not on that chain, how will it work? If not pools are on that chain, what is the point?
I'm not asking passive aggressive questions here... I just don't understand how this works when it goes sour like this.

if everyone decides what chain to stay on you could then set the wallet and the block chain as a download so everyone is on the same chain but I am sure fisheater is working on it

I'm sure. I've got a cold beer (or a few) waiting for you, fisheater!

great idea i'm curious what fisheater thinks about this. should we take this fork and forget about block 246953 ?
I have no control over the blockchain in a p2p coin, while the main blockchain is blocked I saw several forked chains. This one seems better as far as the diff retarget concerns, I can sync to it and it is pretty close to the original blockchain. As to where IFC will go, I have no idea and have no control. The latest client is good. It is the community who will decide in the next few days which fork blockchain will take. The community will choose the best one to move forward. I can't recommend one solution as one way or the other, there will be pains or troubles to get out of the current situation. It is unfortunate that the original retarget scheme was exploited, it is a standard one for all pow coins. Many other coins could be exploited the same way as some other people pointed out. IFC being the first victim of it and has to go through all the pains of fixing the problem. All the best to IFC and it will choose the right path for itself.

Another thing: please avoid trading until the issue settles. We requested cryptsy to suspend the trading until the issue settles, over a day ago, but it is still trading. When the main chain is blocked, the transactions can not be confirmed. So it's better to wait for everything to settle.

Anyway, http://infinitedice.net is now running with the blockchain monocolor specified. the game is open for betting. there is a pool running and mining on this blockchain. I tried to build a blockchain from scratch with the v1.7 client, and it syncs to this one. you can try and send a small 100IFC bet to iHgCJiDBGmU3wQKNz4Tf9ay16nTdT4dqJi and see if you get anything back. if you do and it confirms, then you are on the right blockchain.

now at Block: 246954 Value Out: 1057817529.37982098 IFC I have a Cryptsy deposit still stuck on 5 confirms for 3-4 days, notice how the difficulty has more than doubled. I think this coin is over, the dev should have been on top of this issue within hours of learning about it, with a checkpoint release to define the correct fork. Seeing the dev caused this problem with a bad diff formula, he needs to get pro-active and fix it. Else I see exchanges and pools dropping IFC.

Why isnt cryptsy taking it off the markets ? Any other coin would have been long gone by now.

I lodged a support ticked about stuck IFC confirmations on Cryptsy days ago, posted several times in the chat box, and posted in their forum thread. Don't know what else to do. People are loosing IFC from submitting transactions on coin forks that other people are not on! if needed I can upload a whole coppy of the wallet and the correct blockchain so people can make sure there on the right chain if needed
We don't need another block chain, we need the dev to pull his finger out an release a new official client with checkpoints for the correct chain, not some hack with uploading a block chain that could be overwritten any time.

I think that soon, if someone will try to sync his wallet from scratch, it will sync to the correct blockchain. Every service that has his wallet stuck in these high diff blocks (146954) will have to delete their current blockchain and download it again. I don't really know how the clients determine which is the right blockchain. Anyway, an interesting test to do would be to make a copy of your wallet.dat and erase everything related to IFC. Then run a clean version of the IFC V1.7 client and see what happens. How will this one sync ? Same blockchain that on http://coin-base.net/infinitecoin/ ?

So what happens to all the coins that were traded on Cryptsy if the fork?
There were 10's of millions traded on that cliff. They won't roll those back. We are locked into this change by those trades.

Trades on Cryptsy will be valid only if the corresponding deposits that got the traded coins there are valid. Withdrawals will probably be toast. Good luck, expect to loose it.

What happenned is that transactions that were sent when the main blockchain was stuck at block 246953 were processed and included in this "monocolor" fork (i'll call it like this ). From what I understand, only the transactions between blocks 246948 and 248953 might be lost because this chain was forked at block 246948. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but if someone deletes the blockchain and the the most Infinitecoin users use this monocolor blockchain, you will normally automatically sync to this one, right?
