Idea of the ICO is solid but market has a lot of scammers because of obivous reasons. If you can analyse deeply every ICO you are interested(reading whitepaper in details, team, idea, market potential, token distribution) than you can find top 1-3% of ICOs that could make you nice profit. Most investors in ICO will lose in the long run imho.

It depends on the ICO you are investing. Investing in ICO's can be profitable if their coins could have a big value at the end of their offering. Just be careful, some ICO's right now are just scams.
