Community managed and developed. Centralized management has caused the downfall of too many coins.
Official Site
www.noirbits.com

  • 2 minute block time
  • 30 to block confirm
  • 20 coins per block
  • 50 million total coins
  • expected run time ~ 9 years
  • 6 confirms tx
  • Hourly retarget

The 2 minute block time aims to improve on LTC's time but not so drastic as to cause a permanent orphan problem.
Expected run time is dependent on adoption.
The cap is based of the idea that all coins are still development ideas, in ten years hopefully dev on this coin would have reached it's peak.
The 30 confirms are a response to the 4~10 confirmation coins released of late which encourage orphans and reduce security of the currency.

There will be no premine.

All bounties will be from the community.

In the works

- First solid attempt at Merged Mining Scrypt ( This will only work with coins developed by the devs using current code and POW scheme)
- Noirbank, an experiment to see if cryptos can truly be applied in real world use.

I will be releasing ONLY the source code. If you wish to use on any OS you will compile it yourself.  So get your dependencies in order, no whining please.
Further Information will be given every two hours.
Sounds perfect, except this. If you cannot compile binaries, your coin won't get any attention. Don't look at me, I can compile Bitcoin and Bitcoin-Qt just fine under Windows, but many others cannot.

Understood, but i am a Linux user, i cannot make heads or tails of Windows or mac. The only option is to give someone the source which is a self defeating idea since i want ZERO premine on this.

no whining please.

Why not?
Without Windows-qt this will be another fail.

By the time Windows-qt is released, you already mine hundreds of blocks...
From my point of view, that's the same as pre-mine.

Compile it NOW!

Good luck, with Windows. But for a community coin, why a 12 hour release? Why did you have to install Windows yourself? Was nobody in the community of devs able or willing to help?

If not, why not wait until everything was in order for a really nice launch. I like the idea of a community coin, but let's get one started right, why rush into it?

With the flood of 51% attacks, coin takeovers and compile hacking lately I fully understand that OP is leery of giving anyone the source code to compile with generated genesis block. I actually think his release so far is looking promising, for an alt coin.
