To my knowledge, a good wallet for Altcoin is MyEtherWallet. There are also other wallets that are as good as MyEtherWallet, namely MetaMask. For LTC storage, I don't know much, because all this time I only focus on ETH altcoins.

If you are looking for online wallets for altcoins ERC20 then MEW & MetaMask would be the best choice, if you are looking mobile wallet for ETH & ERC20 tokens then you can use MEWConnect wallet for IOS only, for storing multi coins you can use Infinito mobile wallet. If you are going to store a large amount of LTC or other tokens/coins then buy a hardware wallet Nano LedgerS or Trezor.

If you want a multi-wallet, which will store coins of different systems, it is quite difficult to advise a good one. For some reason, no one comes to my mind.

If you are a beginner, I would recommend you a MEW wallet as it is one of the safest wallets for storing erc - 20 standard tokens on it, you can also keep your tokens on the exchanges, but this is less safe

I will prefer you to have used the offline wallets: MEW and METAMASK
These wallets are the very strong community and the platforms. It is a very reliable for the long term.

I choose online wallets and prefer to manage private keys myself.
Luckily most of altcoins I use have such online wallets, like ETH, Doge, LTC, Tron, Waves.

Just keep in mind to always store your wallet private key safely!
It's very important, because nowadays lots of malware hunts private keys.
Obviously use antiviruses and keep most of software and web pages closed while copying your private keys through the clipboard.

What wallets should i use for altcoins? Bought some LTC not sure what's better

Get a Ledger Nano or Trezor hardware wallet.
If you can't get hold of the hardware wallet. Get the desktop wallet in https://litecoin.org/ website.

LTC is not in the Ethereum platform and your LTC will get burned if you transfer it to an Ethereum address.

I just realized that lots of people here in bitcointalk are:
1. Do not even read or are not aware of the different platforms - hence the recommendation by some to use MEW  Grin
2. Post or recommend responsibly. If you are not knowledgeable on the subject, please do not give a recommendation, you'll confuse the OP and made him/her lose their hard earned funds.

Depending on what token you're storing there are different wallets for different coins. If you're storing ERC-20 tokens the best wallet that I would suggest would be MYETHERWALLET.com. I had been using it for a couple of months now and did not encountered any issues regarding storing and sending tokens.

I think the best wallet for altcoins is ERC-20, there are no best wallets of this and certainly the ERC -20 is widely known

Don't exchange (or wherever op's funds are) give error if he tries to send LTC to ethereum address?

If you want to hold for long time, use the paper wallet for alts.
You can import it later to any ltc compatible wallet

For dedicated wallet for ethereum tokens, I use Imtoken, myetherwallet. But for litecoin like you have now, I use a good multicurrency wallet like coinomi wallet. It's good for storing bitcoin and ethereum too

For altcoins, the best way is to place everything on different wallets. This will give you diversification as well as a more competent distribution of coins.

It all depends on what system are your coins and this is based on what kind of wallet you can download. Can be of course and cold might use.
