So could you theoretically borrow, say, 10 btc, hold'em over the fork, and then claim the corresponding quantity in BTG? If so, where would you do this, and how much do they charge for the borrowing cost?

I made BTC2 off BTC6 in Poloniex loans from the August fork.  Maybe lightning can strike twice?  Smiley
(Yes, I know the community's feeling on Polo but I haven't had a problem with them.  Yet.  Got more eggs elsewhere.)

The most you could of made was 5% and that rate was only there for maybe 24 hours.

I don't see how you could of made 2BTC of 6BTC.

If you borrowed 2BTC against a trade, you were creditted with 6BCC after the fork.

Not everyone closed their margin positions after 24 hours.

Screenshot taken on August 5th.  The biggest loan closed with 1.37BTC in interest.  I don't know what he was thinking but he paid for our kitchen remodeling project.
The smaller ones stayed open for another week after that.  The total interest from all fork loans before fees was close to 2BTC.

With what they stated, DEV will mine for 2 months(?) to "maintain stability" of the chain. Some complete bullshit, 1st the premine, then 2 months of solo mining for the dev. What a fucking joke, 2 months or 2 weeks does not matters. With the BTG launching as stated no large exchange will be listing them. This is all smoke and mirrors for someone to gain from, i.e. shorting btc, buying into alts cheaply... The fact that bittrex is even planning to lock btc wallets for the snapshot, before the code is even completed is laughable.

I was initially hoping to make some money off this fork but the way they are going about this with the pre mine and no replay is making me nervous.  I am not planning on taking any aggressive moves to try and do anything at this point.  I think a case could be made to say they are trying to build off the success of the last fork and make as much as they can for themselves and that is about it. I will just keep my BTC on my Trezor and see what shakes out.  Maybe grab some cheap altcoins in the meantime.

Hey guys,

just read a post about the new hardfork. I heard that the mining difficulty for Bitcoin Gold will be again "easy". Is that true? Can I use the cards I use for ethereum mining, for Bitcoin Gold?

Thank you in advance!

There is no basis to determine if the initial difficulty will be easy or not.
Probably a lot of people will start to instantly mine the coin and yes you can mine it with a normal GPU.
The hashrate will be the same that in zcash

The more I read and learn about Bitcoin Gold the more I don't think the dev team know what they are doing and it looks like a good money making scheme for them.

More information for those interested .....

https://youtu.be/XL_vodC8OZo

I do like the underlying premise ...... BTC Gold will exist to take the power away from the few massive mining companies that build and mine with ASICs and give it back to the individual miners via GPUs.

This thing has no useful purpose that isn't already accomplished better by other alts.  I don't understand the hype over this one.  Are people just thinking because it will fork you get free money for having BTC the way you did with bitcoin cash?  There are already equihash cryptos with superior characteristics to bitcoin.  Why would I want to use a slow ass transacting coin when I can use a faster one?  If it's just about getting rid of asics well hell we got that already with monero, eth, and zcash all of which are technically superior to BTC already.

That is the goal of Bitcoin Gold. They want to make it ASIC proof so that only GPUs can Mine it. I definitely will try it out when it comes out.

Wowh this is a good news to all of us who loves mining.
I am a miner also and if this coins will give us less difficulty to mine I would love to switch in this coin.
I am looking forward to it and I am hoping to gain profit from it.

Only problem with Bitcoin Gold is that it is going to be distributed to everyone that has Bitcoin. Expect a lot of dumping on the markets when it makes its debut. By the time you move your coins from pool to market, it's profitability may vanish.

Everyone know about it people who are Bitcoin will receive Bitcoin gold coins and they start dumping the coins in the market. I think there are many people mining Bitcoin gold in order to dump in the market. Owner are not developing for long term just to make money they are releasing these coins at the time forks.

We'd be lucky to see a working wallet to claim our 1:1 BTG by then. All BTG has accomplished up until now is crashing the alts.
