You demanded the 1 BTC in a rude manner and accused OP of being a scammer which you are continually doing so, therefore OP does not want to and will not pay you the 1BTC as he has the power to do so or not, plus he doesn't even know you, in future be more polite, courtesy can get you far, even if it is 1btc far

you are right, that seems to be the case.

i didn't know that being rude was grounds for non-payment. i guess that's how ethics works on bitcointalk. especially me being rude only AFTER the guy continuously shown that he had no interest in paying the other two parties

of course you had no reason to be rude, he honored your bet from the start.

i told him of his error without being rude, and so did 3 other people also without being rude. what was his response to us? "i'm not paying, go re-read the thread". he was the one who was rude at the start. apparently 4 people telling him that he was wrong didn't matter. we were all making things up. or, he double checked and decided that he wasn't gonna honor his bet. either way, he was rude to us. only then did i make accusations.

edit
He paid everyone else but you, so he's not a scammer, you just have to question why he paid everyone but you

this however must just be a joke.

if one person gets scammed, then the guy is a scammer. he is only reputable if he pays everyone. if a business scams one customer, but all other customers are fine, i guess the business is a-ok in your book? the business is allowed to keep someone's money as long as they pay out the rest? maybe i should start a business here on bitcointalk, given these ethics. i could make a killing

dont know if i'm dreaming or not. this cannot be real life.

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

Guys, stop arguing, if you feel bad because he didn't pay a bet that he confirmed (which he did IMO) open a scam accusation thread in the appropriate subforum and the mods will decide.

Just FYI, bets that were not honored resulted in scammer tags in the past, but all the variables will be taken into consideration.

LOL there's only one big difference here.  I am not running a business.  This wasn't a "scam" because I was never holding onto any of your money.
This is also not a casino, and I do not run a betting exchange.  I am just some guy on the internet that you offended, so he refused to pay your bet, while paying everyone else.  Get over it.   Cheesy

i never said you were running a business. i made a valid comparison since the guy claimed that is was ok to scam one person as long as he doesn't scam the rest of the people.

Guys, stop arguing, if you feel bad because he didn't pay a bet that he confirmed (which he did IMO) open a scam accusation thread in the appropriate subforum and the mods will decide.

the analogy was not limited to 'business' persay

here's another:

perhaps i should start a thread accepting bets on this forum, and pay out everyone except one person that i choose. i could make a killing.

or you could pay out everyone except the asshole who calls you a scammer.  If you came up to me in real life and called me a scammer I wouldn't give you anything either. LOL

you continue to ignore the fact that i only called you a scammer after 4 people had already pointed out your mistake, and at that point you STILL refused to pay both me and stramir. i did not call you a scammer initially.

those facts are convenient for you to ignore, because it fits your agenda

i figured it was possible that it was an honest mistake. however, then you responded again saying "No. Read the thread again." since you seem to be a stickler for etiquette: that is a fairly rude dismissal on your part as well.

4 people pointed out my mistake, and then i refused to payout?  no.  you mentioned it once, I didn't believe you, and then checked the thread and saw it.  By then, there were new posts.  I did not argue against anybody in this whole thread except you.  Basically you're the runt of the litter who's still bitchin he didn't get in.  You got left out, and now you're crying cause nobody wants to play with you   Cheesy
Quite honestly, if you make a promise (a bet is a promise), then renig on it, that deserves a scammer tag.  I don't care the circumstances.  I don't care how much you like or don't like a person.  I don't care what names he has called you.  You made a promise to pay him 1 BTC if certain conditions were met, those conditions were met, and you are refusing to pay him.

Scammer in my book.

let me tell you how history actually went, since you cannot count to 4

you confirm you lost the bet, but you leave out both me and stramir:

bitwhizz, MOB and ICEY I will send you your winnings later today.. i confirmed those 3 bets but didn't shake on any bets afterwards

need to pull out my armory wallet which is at home.  you will have your btc by the end of today

now,

1. (stramir)

ill take the bet for 1 btc as well, please confirm in thread if the bet is on or not.

me too, 1 btc please confirm

So you didn't confirm these two actually... OK

2. (Jozzaboy)

He did, there was a post shortly after yours saying, all bets confirmed.

3. (me) (and in this post, i quoted your confirmation, so how could you "not believe me"?)

um, no, you confirmed my bet (johnblaze), and stramir's bet.
...

4. (Malawi)
bitwhizz
Icey
Johnblaze
Stramir

feel free to verify those timestamps

and then your response:

bitwhizz
Icey
Johnblaze
Stramir

Umm no.. Read the thread again.  I confirmed bets, and after that I did not accept any more.  It wouldn't make sense to just accept every bet in the thread, i decided to stop after my confirmation (as good as a mutual hand shake).
Guys, I will send the bitcoins within the hour

bitwhizz
icey
MOB

how can you claim you argued with no one except me?

look at your post above, you are quoting Malawi, who is an independent third party. clearly you are disputing another person besides me in that very post.

how much more will you backtrack?

It's funny how off-topic this thread has gotten.

this thread is completely on-topic.

the first post was an offer to take bets on a prediction. all subsequent discussion has been regarding said bets

I went back and checked. You're actually right, my mistake. I was going based on the thread-title, not the text of the OP. Glad I didn't put my money where my mouth was there, that would have been costly  Grin

hey, at least you can admit your mistake and own up to it. thats more than some people can do Wink

who wants to bet that tomorrow the price of bitcoin will be below $120

at 2 - 1 odds

e.g you bet 0.5 btc that price will be over $120, if it goes over i pay out 1 btc, if its under you pay out 0.5 btc

I would say the odds are attractive

who has bullish Cajones??

OP???

edit: I will raise it to 2.5 - 1, only a ten dollar increment, we all know thats possible with bitcoin
