پاکستان ٹیلی کمیونیکیشن اتھارٹی (پی ٹی اے) نے اپنے ویب مانیٹرنگ سسٹم (WMS) کو مواصلات کرنے کا منصوبہ آغاز کیا ہے، جو ڈیپ پیکٹ انسپکشن ٹیکنالوجی کا استعمال کرتا ہے اور آنے والے عام انتخابات کے دوران مزید انٹرنیٹ رکاوٹیوں کا سبب بنے گا۔ 2019 میں کینیڈیائی کمپنی سینڈوائن سے خریدے گئے WMS نے گیٹوے لیول پر کنٹرول فراہم کرنے کا اہل ہے، جس میں بلاکنگ اور سینسرشپ کیلئے صلاحیت شامل ہے۔ جیو فیکٹ چیک نے چھید چھڈا کر یہ سوال کیا کہ اپ گریڈ کا وقتنامہ مناسب ھونے کی سپیشال وجہ کوئی انتخابات سے تعلق ہو سکتا ہے۔ پی ٹی اے نے دعوی کی ہے کہ اپ گریڈ جو دسمبر 2023 سے جاری ہے، 2016 کے الیکٹرانک کرائمز ایکٹ کے تحت مذہبی توہین کے تمام مخالف مواد سے متعلق مختلف عدالتی حکمات کے مطابق ہو رہا ہے۔
