just got mine and plugged it all in (double checked EVERYTHING) and using a step up/down converter, it will not power on, the power supply turns on but the miner itself doesn't.  So frustrating.

I always start by measuring the DC voltage to each connector. I connect my meter and watch the voltage during the first power up. It should build up to 12VDC very quickly and stay there forever. If it dips below 11.9 there is a power restriction somewhere.

I'm referring to S9s assuming the M3 is about the same.

would that cause nothing to start up though? I can grab a voltage meter and check that, no lights or anything else on my miner starts up but the power supply seems to be running perfectly fine, do you have a suggestion to get it more power?

Low voltage is very destructive. I like to ensure the voltage is correct before I do anything else.

Yes, if the power supply looks like it's running but is not able to supply the load, the miner may not be able to start up.

.. you're not trying to run on 120V are you?  Even the S9's aren't happy on 120V.  These miners really do best on 240V.

I am running it on 120V but using a Step Up/Down converter that is rated for 3000 watts, seems something is wrong with the power supply as it powers on but doesn't provide any power to the miner, I used a spare PCI plug from my PC and it turned on the board so I'm going to assume its the power supply, I bought two 1200W server power supplies for the meantime until I can get this sorted out from Pangolin.

The power supply may shutdown if it senses a short circuit.

I'd probably try this;

Measure power supply voltage with nothing connected. If no output voltage, measure input voltage. If input good and output bad, power supply is your problem.

If power supply is good, then connect controller and measure again. If output voltage fails, measure resistance between power input terminals of controller board.

If controller runs then add one hash board. Measure again.

If bad, swap hash board and try again. If good add one hash board.

The idea is to find the disruptive hash board.

Obviously power down between connection changes.

Theyre waiting to announce the price this time....maybe their prices will come back down to reality? I was ready to pull the trigger on 37 of these when they were at $1188 but couldnt order in time. Their last couple of batches, they lost me as a customer to biitmain solely on price, as I purchased 19 from Bitmain instead. I can not possibly the only one.

Hmm, just bought a voltage monitor but don't know how to use it but will search videos online.  Do you think I should try the two 1200W power supplies before trying the Pangolin provided one as it runs on 120V.

That would answer a lot of questions. I would connect the controller and one hash board to one 1200W supply to see if that will run.

hi, krisgt30, the thing is you can order only 3 pcs to one adress on their web. They also give the convenience to customers get their bulk orders , but the minimum amount is about 50 pcs.

I done the bulk order and the price was 1188 + delivery.

I sent an email asking them if I could order bulk $100k in miners back in December 28th and they never got back to me. So I was stuck piecing my farm together with whatever quantities I could get my hands on at bitmain releases. I will need another $50k in machines in the next two months. But by then bitmains new models can be released.

On sale again and sitting. $2350 for 7 day shipment. They are really out of touch with the US market.

Yeah, this is leaving a bad taste in my mouth as well.

Buy in December from a new supplier - fine, they need time to manufacture and you get a discount for basically taking a chance on them. But they take those funds to assemble a bunch more miners that they then sell before delivering to you - meanwhile they contributed to rising difficulty that means that the March delivery will likely never break even.

Live and learn I suppose.

x2 for me. Pangolinminer must have been very busy, they sent me a email coupon for $100 off my next order. They also
stated they have 368 instock ATM. So it would seem they are blowing right through Q1 release with their flagship M3's.
The phrase, "If it's not broke, don't fix it" should be their slogan! Props to them for giving Bitmain a running competition
with their prices and availability, all the while using an older less efficient 28nm design.

Don't you guys think that at 2100 watts and 11.5ths these things will take forever to break even at $2400USD? Even with relatively cheap power in Ontario, Canada of around .08-.1usd this thing is only making $7-$9USD a day. They will need 8-12 months to break even at this price point. It would be nice if they kept true to those low initial prices they used to have. Even $1500 US is a lot better than $2400.
