Turned the wallet off for overnight, turned it on today. It has 1 connection under 2.1.2 and is loading the blockchain over again. If that is stable for a bit, I'll try reloading the MN under the new code.

Whatever is happening, whoever is updating themselves or the system, its starting to work again.

1 connection isn't awesome, but its better than 0... so thanks guys!

Thanks.

Fusion

Really strange. Hope it picks up a few more after a while.

Good to hear it's at least doing something right Wink

If you are still getting those socket errors in the log, you should look into that as well, as that is probably stopping the nodes.

Yours, team swipp

Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

This sounds like a really interesting project. You are right currently no other crypto makes real use of masternode network. Only one that comes to my mind will be substratum but it does take some more time to implement. Anyway keep us updated, will be following

Hi.

We have some additional info on Swipp and some comments with upcoming plans.

Masternodes
Most masternodes are now correctly receiving payments, which is good news. The masternodes return a healthy profit. If we look at a specific masternode during December 20, it received 42 PoS payments and 30 PoW payments. We can calculate returns (roughly):

1.2*42 + 4.8*30 = 194.4 Swipp per day, translating into 150.4*194.4 = 29237 satoshis or $4.99 per day

This is at the current low prices, which we believe will increase several times over in the coming months. So if you plan on investing in a masternode, it's still currently pretty cheap to do so!

We have started on the adaptive masternode network and will inlcude a geolocation database with Swipp. This will be used to determine the location of masternodes. While it may not make it into the initial implementation, the database will also be complemented with traceroutes.

Masternode payment enforcement
Now that we see that PoW payments work and can be intergrated with pools, we plan on enforcing those payments (this is currently not done in a hard way). If a payment is not included, the block will be invalidated. This will either be included with the update that inlcudes the adaptive masternode network or released as a seperate release before, depending on how development progresses.

New community resources
The Swipp community has been hard at work also - we now have a mirror of a Swipp block explorer hosted by lpool here;
http://swipp.lchain.cc/
There is also a new pool (thay are currently offering Swipp mining at a 0% fee):
https://bulwarkpool.com/

We will publish these on the website and in the first post of the ANN. Contact us if you have a resource you want us to list.

Wealth distribution
The wealth distribution of the currency is slowly looking better and better as more people join the community. You can see the distribution on wealth here:
http://explorer.swippcoin.com/richlist

New exchanges
Chaozer has begun to look for a new exchange for us. He has submitted a request to Poloniex and Binance. We have also submitted Swipp to coinmarketcap. We are also looking at other alternatives.

Happy holidays from the Swipp team

Here are 2 transactions that appear in the explorer, both for block 143,914:
http://explorer.swippcoin.com/block/3b66ffa4c69e51003beb18e3693be2798e68126b44952e50ab17744c8e030d5c

The first transaction is fine. The second has -1 confirmations. What is up with the second one and what happens to the coins that were received by the 2 addresses in the second transaction?

This is just an orphaned block. If two blocks compete on the same height one of them will be marked as invalid by the block chain. They are usually (at least by most cryptocurrencies) marked with -1 confirmations when this happens. These collisions can happen at any time when two blocks are generated at a close-by time to each other and submitted on the same height. However, there can only be one valid block. The block chain decides which one it considers the correct one. The new currency generated in the invalid block will not be accepted onto the block chain.

Understood. Is it strange then that, for the 2 addresses that received coins in the orphaned block, the explorer shows these 2 address as having received the coins?

I ask as I thought my troublesome masternode had received a reward, but the reward is from the orphaned block. It doesn't appear in the node's wallet if I 'listtransactions' but does appear in the explorer.

Right. Most likely your wallet actually was one of the nodes that declined the block - so it wouldn't show up Smiley.

Looks like the explorer is not handling orphaned blocks quite right... Though, I think the explorer runs some cron jobs at given intervals that purge tables etc - so maybe it won't show it correctly before that actually happens. If it doesn't resolve itself, I would say we found a bug in the Iquidus explorer.

Nevertheless, I actually think it SHOULD show the transactions from invalid blocks as well, but it should mark them in red or something similar, so you can identify it's block as orphaned.

You should open your port 24055 in your firewall. It is currently closed.

You can test it from the outside by opening a telnet session to that port.

When you restart your masternode you are pushed down in rank, meaning you have to wait even longer for a reward.

Keep it running and be patient. Rewards start eventually.

Closed firewall... Port 24055 is not reachable and is closed.

I belive you should also set daemon=1 .

You can use something like;
https://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/
to check if the port is open...

I just got an idea here... It seems there is still a lot of trouble setting up masternodes (not only for Swipp, but pretty much all masternode coins).

Would it be useful if we extend the masternode tab in the explorer with some additional information ? We could look for miss-configurations in the masternodes and output some error messages and suggestions for fixes.

What do you guys think ?

Hello everybody. Here is a small update.

Adaptive masternodes are being worked on and Twiddler now has an initial "beta" implementation. If everything works as planned, we still plan to release a wallet with an adaptive masternode network after Christmas.

Despite the small exchange we are on, the price of Swipp is slowly increasing. We just hit a trading price of 300 satoshi which means masternode returns have doubled in just a few days. There are still currently only 29 masternodes on the network and they are increasingly harder to come by. If you plan to invest in a masternode, we recommend you do so before it gets even harder to get one. The more masternodes running when the adaptive network is introduced, the better!

Chaozer has reported that the discord room has received a big influx of new user, so things are picking up there as well.

We wish you happy holdays and a merry christmas! Next year will be very interesting for the Swipp project with many firsts in the cryptocurrency world!

Yours, team swipp

As I said earlier, you didn't have it configured properly. They work just fine under Windows. I have helped several people to get them up an running. It will never work with a closed firewall, regardless of operating system. A masternode should be open to the outside, that is the whole point of it.

I added to file swipp.conf
Code:
daemon=1

After restarting MN, payments began after 8 hours. But they are very infrequent.

Today I will start the second MN. Good luck, happy Christmas Smiley
