Hello everybody!

We have been working with the pool operator for our biggest pool (lpool) to fix the issue with the masternode payments. We can report that it is now working properly and that the first masternodes have now received rewards;

http://explorer.swippcoin.com/tx/0542a3557efd92e0a360f591bc6dbef8b5b2057b3e4d3ddee0f47776dfcf55f0
http://explorer.swippcoin.com/tx/802b48b8c58db29831f345e46b9e32bae0625652bffbd3219a15c5838ac02743
http://explorer.swippcoin.com/tx/ed27c41fbf0e31819aa0b2fffd6c43488cb87525889d64a8ee2e277ac0070021

Thanks to lpool for helping out and assisting us to work out this issue Smiley.

We will also contact the operator for Altcoinix and get it sorted there as well. Once this is done, we can enforce the payments in the block chain!

We can also report that all masternodes have started to receive payments except these ones;

ScWVC1uMD1QndgC1Y2SukFMUqLf9SGZTuf (firewall closed, rejecting connections)
SMaQo9DtZ42xCfLwDCfHjXAuE2aE1G6Hh1 (connects, but then instantly drops our connection)
SgNw1v7nxNEgUUwUThpsirfADgRDLx2vhL (unknown issue, we recommend changing port to 24055)
SbJkMr56p1jrNyw2bE4pouXisqqAVzaQ8k (connects, but then instantly drops our connection)
SToJDfws4nLMXHz1EKB9GssK5kuEmiUzTM (firewall closed, rejecting connections)
SjE9MpK8Kk17RhNpnZEjdwH7aSHFicajJJ (firewall closed, rejecting connections)
SiPsK8tSQPU8dfvqW38QxGDKTdkCBDXrRy (unknown issue, this one has us stumped)
SWzBtL4ntuUj4CiBWb6CE5Vda5TKK4g14H (unknown issue, this one has us stumped)
SQD4ByPU9UDrs1bXYDZKFTcqNxU67ycarS (firewall closed, rejecting connections)
SVM1NsL9L383tJX2VDKEQVPxny16uLLVL8 (firewall closed, rejecting connections)
SPgewyvbgCvY8Qz3wmQbvBLcq1rXNgJQqW (firewall closed, rejecting connections)

If we were able to identify the problem, we have listed it above. As you can se, most of them have a valid explanation. Currently, we have 11 masternodes misbehaving in one way or another. If it's incorrectly set up, you will obviously not receive payments.

If you are on that list with "unknown issue" and manage to work out what is causing your problems, please let everybody in the thread know.

Yours, team swipp

I'm one of those with "unknown issue, this one has us stumped". Any info you can share? I guess I will need to set it up somewhere else, try a fresh start on a new server.

Good question. I can pretty much guarantee nothing related to this has changed in the wallet though. Some firewalls will close a port only after an application restarts. It's definitely either the firewall or miss-configured port though, because there is nothing on the other side to handle the connection.

I can appreciated that it's a mystery for both parties. Nothing has changed in the masternode code and nothing has changed in the masternodes we're running, but there is this problem of no rewards. Hopefully we're all able to get to the bottom of it somehow. I'll keep experimenting.

We noticed we can connect to the port and that we are not being thrown out. Other than that, it's really hard to tell. Sometimes you can get a clue on the side that tries to send a payment to a masternode (by looking in the debug.log), but in this case, it's pretty difficult to know what's going on.

How is your swipp.conf set up ?

My MN is on the list as "connects, but then instantly drops our connection".

It thinks all of the incoming connections are misbehaving for some reason.

Hi. Actually, most of the "connection refused" messages you are seeing are caused by nodes/wallets that are closed and do not accept connections. This is completely normal.

To troubleshoot this via terminal, you can telnet to your node from the outside with;

telnet <ip> <port>

If it holds the connection and lets you enter some characters, it's behaving correctly. If it instantly disconnects  you, something is wrong and most likely caused by a firewall issue.

Yours, team swipp

So the VPS isn't running any firewall, ufw is inactive. This was a working configuration with no changes other than trying and then downgrading the upgrade to swippd.

telnet to the port definitely immediately closes. But my working PhantomX nodes (also forked from Peercoin) on the same VPS do the same thing and they are receiving payments. There is no log data explaining that the connection was immediately closed by the daemon, and even telnet localhost [port] does that... so its even more unlikely that a firewall or route limit is in place.

The MN also thinks its active from "masternode debug"..

Separately, my Swipp wallet running v2.1.1.0: Yggdrasil is showing zero connections to the swipp network even after hours. This is a Windows machine on a totally different network... that works with the older Swipp wallet like a champ.

So I would love to know what else may have changed without having to do a diff on the code.

thanks!

I can simplify the conversation. I've been running 2 SWP masternodes. They're set up the same way (the only difference is that they're on different VPS providers) and up until 140,000 they've been running fine. Once 140,000 hit, one masternode kept receiving rewards but the other stopped. I couldn't find an obvious reason why.

I've recently moved the non-functioning masternode to a VPS from the same provider as for the masternode that does still work. I'm waiting now to see if it will start receiving rewards once it's fully registered on the network. This is essentially as close as I can get to having both masternodes be the same. I won't know what else to do if this doesn't solve the problem. It also makes me a bit wary about my thoughts of moving a masternode to a less crowded IP location to avoid reduced rewards. Seems risky now, assuming I can get this masternode functioning again.

This might not have anything to do with it, but I've also found several RPC commands have never worked properly, i.e.: 'masternode winners' returns nothing. Might just be the ugly codebase you guys inherited.

Nothing related to peer handling or masternode registration or anything like that has changed as far as I know. If you get no connections, you should probably remove your old node/peers database and then restart 2.1.1. The wallet can get confused if you have peers to old wallets in the database (it keeps retrying to connect to those).

SMaQo9DtZ42xCfLwDCfHjXAuE2aE1G6Hh1 and SbJkMr56p1jrNyw2bE4pouXisqqAVzaQ8k have both received payments now... So obviously, the fact that the connection was dropped was not the actual issue. Maybe it was just a case of required patience again.

Regardless, telnet localhost/ip <port> should definetly not close the connection. If it does, the masternode is not reachable. Currently, this might acutally be ok, as we are not really checking this. However, in the future when we start hosting services on the masternodes this will definetly result in no payments to the masternode, as we will require those services to be available.

Yes. I noticed it's bugged. It returns a list, but the address of the winner is empty Smiley. We should probably fix it at some point. If you guys find other things, please open an issue on GitHub. It would help a lot.

Interesting. Sounds like some kind of network issue. It's hard to tell for sure though.

I would say - If the second one does not start to receive rewards within 24-48h or so, we officially have a gremlin somewhere.

I blew away everything in my %appdata%/Swipp directory except for my wallet and tried with 2.1.1 -- only realized it wasn't catching up a few hours later. Did that yesterday. Went back to 2.0.2.0 to rebuild the blockchain, worked great.

Just now, killed 2.1.1 which had no connections for a few hours, fired up 2.0.2.0 and its sync'ing the 7 hours it missed. This is all Windows 8.

With my 2.0.2.0 wallet, I see no payment to MN SbJkMr56p1jrNyw2bE4pouXisqqAVzaQ8k and it says its fully synced to 142007 (as of this writing).

On the MN:

root@xxxx:/home/[xxxxx]/.Swipp# more swipp.conf

masternode=1
masternodeaddr=205.134.165.247:65003
masternodeprivkey=[xxxxx]

addnode=104.251.218.157
addnode=185.70.185.252
addnode=36.55.235.149:24055

I can pull the addnodes of course, but I can't see how they would be breaking anything. On the hot wallet, I've tried it both ways with all of the addnodes (and reservebalance, etc) and with a blank file and see no change either way.

What you are doing won't work. You will get completely invalid block data.

If you sync with the old wallet after block 140 000, you are on a completely different chain. You cannot change between the versions either with the same block data. After block 140 000, these are two different chains with completely different blocks. When you run 2.0.x you are syncing with old clients that missed to update to the new version only. 2.1.x clients that have updated do not accept connections from older nodes after block 140 000. We have actually made this pretty clear in conjunction with each update.

You wouldn't see any payments you made on the new chain to that MN on the old (and invalid) chain obviously.

Again, your old nodes are probably screwing up the sync. You can always pull some fresh ones from the explorer (just make sure you pick the 2.1.0+ ones).

Never, ever go back to an older version. When the protocol gets udated in any way we reject older clients. Going back is asking for trouble.

Looking on the correct chain, you can see that you have received a few payments;

Thanks for the help so far.

So for my QT wallet, I've blown away the entire Swipp directory (in Appdata/Roaming/Swipp) except for the wallet.dat. I've added the following nodes to a new (empty) swipp.conf:

addnode=184.22.217.40
addnode=191.248.153.144
addnode=1.52.32.248
addnode=88.131.213.115
addnode=35.187.254.238

which are all 2.1.1 according to the explorer.

My debug.log looks like this:

Hi. Cutting this down a bit, as the quotes are getting very long Smiley.

The errors are fine I believe. They just mean that the wallet found transactions where the blocks of the previous transactions has not yet been fetched. I have a few of those in my debug file as well and they are harmless.

The socket recv error 10054 is a real problem though and it's one specific to Windows. This one seems to be a little tricky and can be caused by a number of things. Google the error and see if you can find a solution that works for you.

no rewards

Almost all masternodes are now receiving rewards. You might need to wait a little longer. 12 hours might not be enough.

Turned the wallet off for overnight, turned it on today. It has 1 connection under 2.1.2 and is loading the blockchain over again. If that is stable for a bit, I'll try reloading the MN under the new code.

Whatever is happening, whoever is updating themselves or the system, its starting to work again.

1 connection isn't awesome, but its better than 0... so thanks guys!

Thanks.
