People are naturally looking for more. People are not contented and will never be contented onto what they have. They are constantly aiming for the better and they keep on wanting and desiring for more, including those of the possession of others. And I think that's the reason why people desire what's not theirs. Moreover, people desire those things that of others because of their insecurity and envy. I think that people desire things what's not theirs not because they want it but because they want to have that thing. They do not want that 'thing' because what yhey love is the idea of having that thing. The satisfaction it gives knowing that they have it and others don't.

All people has that characteristic inside their heart, we all tend to covet things not our own, it's from our heart that's the root of all covetousness, envy, jealousy, discontent, clamor, etc. However everybody vary significantly in terms of self control or maturity, some has greater strength at controlling their passions to look outwardly good while others less to no control at all. Even then, controlled or not sin is in the very core of man, and that separates him from his God. Nothing within himself can cure it, it must come from without himself, from some One else (Jesus Christ).

I don't mean just seeing something nice and wanting to have something like that. Some people would not mind doing anything to take what belongs to another. Why do we have people like that?
We do have not only a people like that but a humanity like that. Although I don't want to think of it, we cannot avoid but accept that humans are greedy. The worse thing here is that we are not only greedy on a neutral note, meaning we do not only desire what is there to be achieved for our fulfillment. Our greediness goes as far as desiring that which is already owned by someone else. This is already second nature to us and we need to break away from it.

But once it turns inward and looks at itself, it understands its nature. This comes out of intelligence. Then it gradually seeks inner calmness rather external cravings. Resting in inner peace and calm is more happier and blissful to Mind. But it is under illusion that it finds pleasure in things in the external world. The reason being mind, as put by Hindu/Buddhist philosophers, identifies itself with the body and it thinks it has a separate individuality - "I", "ME","MINE". When there is a separation like this, automatically there is a comparison. When comparison exists, desire sprouts. You better read about mind in Google. Lot of notes and articles are there.

All healthy individuals desire to love and be loved, and to feel that they have a purpose in life, that they contribute to society in some real way. This contribution can lead to a strong sense of self-worth and is reinforced when recognized and acknowledged by others.

Such a human being is the kind of person who shirk will make other people's possessions his own and justifies any means to get what others have.
Emphasize yourself to learn to get something according to your own ability.

Why do we want what we don't have? There are many different answers stemming from diverse theoretical approaches. I will list a couple, drawing heavily on a older review by Lynn (1992) who has collected different ideas about why desirability can sometimes be increased when something is unavailable to us.

What do you mean? There are many kinds of people who takes something not belonging to them. People who takes something not theirs out of jealousy; People who takes something not theirs because of poverty; People who takes something not theirs because of obsession, etc. Every person taking something not theirs depends on what circumstances they're having.

Human needs are insatiable, as they move from one level to a better level, their taste changes. They yearn for things above them, this will make them to strive more, this coupled with ever changing technologies.

the nature of desire with what others have is an unworthy trait we apply and have to ourselves but in reality this human nature is a normal trait because of jealousy and is never satisfied with what we have. and this trait can be inhibited by the nature of receiving and being proud of what we have by seeing those who do not have what we have if we can not stem then we will definitely do things that are not good like stealing and scam

I think that human nature is something like that, His nature is always greedy, want something that does not belong to him, sometimes also appear jealous, drngki, against the advantages of others, even some have the heart to damage the goods / others in other people, because they feel unrivaled.

The human needs is insatiable iv seen wealthy men crave to have what a poor man has.Man by nature don't appreciate and value what they have, the comparison is always there, they always want to have what others own, simply because they never allowed the contentment side of them to develop into maturity,so covetousness sets in and pushes them to wanting all and everything. The habit of craving what is not yours starts from childhood, when you study children you can easily identify the ones with covetoeus tendencies when a child whines with an intense desire and a strong urge to own the toys that belongs to other children despite having more than enough, that is where the root begins to form.

We want the people we can’t have because no matter how incredible someone is in reality, they’re never as incredible as we can imagine them to be. We don’t imagine someone’s flaws. We don’t imagine their shortcomings. We don’t imagine the ways in which we just don’t jive with them – even when we want to so badly. And when we don’t get to be with the people we want, we end up living with an idealized version of them – one we enjoy fantasizing about more than we may actually enjoy being with them if we were given the actual chance.

It is an animal feature, which is present in animals. It is also present in little children, who are not intellectually so much higher than animals. This feature is persisting also in many adults, who actually for this reason never really stop resempbling animals, after all.

This is a feature of human nature: when a person loses the limits of what is permissible, he begins to feel that the whole world is he, and therefore everything that belongs to others rightfully belongs to him. And in fact, he can justify in this way any of his actions - they say, it seems to you that impudence, but in fact a necessity.

When people are young, they want more money because it is a badge of honor to make more money (via salary, commissions or investments), have more money saved up, spend more money (conspicuous consumption) etc. As people get older and they realize that one day they would be retired, they fret about how to accumulate enough savings to get through their retirement. Working a minimum-wage job at the age of 80 to make ends meet scares just about everyone. Also, people think that if they made a higher hourly wage, they would have to work less to achieve their financial goals.

You know, there is a famous American proverb : "the grass is always greener on the other side", I would add: the neighbour's wife is better, friend's car is faster etc.. And also there is no limit for people desire. This is what human being is all about.
True. Humans will always yearn for better things, and this often leads to greed. In a macro scale, look at all these countries trying to outsmart and outdo each other. They try to amass as much wealth as possible, they event try to take each other's the resources. The results are ugly. It's taken a toll on the environment and is also threatening our lives.

I think feeling insecure is a factor. But human desires are insatiable.this makes most people desiring what belongs to others and that they don't have. When one starts desiring what he or she don't have,it will lead to crime in some cases. And may also be as a motivation to strive hard.

We all have that thing called contentment. If one individual doesn't have a contentment in life, he/she will pursue that thing. Even do it destroy the one he/she loves or may even cause him/her death. Human have this thing, some people tend to be obsessed to the point they always want everything in life, while some are contented with what they have.
