This is a very tough question coz I believe in both LTC and ETH. I started trading only with ETH and LTC and still hold maximum number of them out of my cryptocurrency portfolio.

Brand new to the cryptocurrency market.  Currently I hold a decent amount of LTC.

Don't put too much hope into Litecoin. There is no support of the founder anymore (even sold all its ltc). Ltc ist just a hard fork of bitcoin and has less to bring to the table. Go ETH. As long as the ICO boom keeps a there is a natural demand.

For a long term i think that ethereum is much more  convicent than litecoin.
Guys, to be honest, do you really think that litecoin is going anywhere? it is not moving from where it is right now.

It is a very big gap between this two cryptos, but this two offer a very great investment and holdings for long term, when you hold LTC you can buy as many as you want now because the price is low compare to eth or even bitcoin.

I think LTC will not grow very much in price.  I advise you to invest better in eth, this is a very good coin.

LTC and ETH are both good coin and I have both of them in my portfolio but if I have to select one of them I will select ETH as is much better then LTC because the world is using ETH after bitcoin and also most of the upcoming coins are using ETH technology.

Brand new to the cryptocurrency market.  Currently I hold a decent amount of LTC.  It's value has gone up nicely since I purchased it.  I've read all the predictions for LTC in 2018 and 2019.  It sounds promising as a long term hold...which is what I'm more comfortable doing...to reach $200 -$300 a coin.   I like the fact that there is a team in place trying hard to ensure it's future.  Charlie Lee may not be the most charismatic spokesman publicly but he's out there doing it which gives me confidence in his product.  Now, it's obvious that ETH is not going anywhere.  My question for the board is which outperforms the other in the next 5 years?  I tend to invest heavily in the direction that has the bigger upside.  Perhaps I should split my investing 50/50 regarding ETH and LTC?  What say the more experienced cryptocurrency gurus?

I have nothing against BTC.  I don't see it going anywhere.  It is the giant.  However, I feel the current price point is too high for my liking.

Thanks
I think your strategy in investing in crypto is so great, when you do not invest in a single crypto coin, it will reduce the risk of loss if at any time the price of one of the coins you buy falls. LTC or ETH I think it has a good future.

I think the ETH is the best choice for investment in the long term at these moments. Because it's price very huge at this moment I believe it's price will be growing in the future.

ETH would be much better if we are taking about the lng term investments,LTC is good for short terms as we all know LTC has faster transcation speed compare to bitcoin and ethereum which makes it easier for the invetors to make a lot of money out of thing air,ETH has some good platform which is why it is better to hold some as most of the new projects are being based in this platform.

Well, Litecoin is strictly a criptomoeda, which means that people only use it to carry out transactions, it can be extracted, just like bitcoin, however, its sole purpose is to serve as digital currency.
While Ethereum works as a currency, it provides a decentralized network capable of creating smart contracts and crowdsourcing funds for new projects.
Even if Litecoin is only a currency, it is one of the oldest currency, just behind Bitcoin, has potential, is among the top 10 in market valuation, so it is implied that the two are worth having in the long term.

Litecoin definitely has potential. Recently, a long-awaited update of SegWit was made, which was crucial for increasing the blocking capacity, reducing settlement time and reducing transaction processing costs. This should attract business and, possibly, investors.

I would say ETH over LTC long term.

Ethereum is more dynamic as it is a platform which is heavily utilized and is always changing while LTC may make changes and add new features it will always be used as a currency and its value will always be unconsciously suppressed due to Charlie Lee advertising it as "digital silver" to BTC's "digital gold"

Ethereum yes, but I would stay away from litecoin.

Litecoin is being ridiculous nowadays, i would not trust in that coin anymore.
It is full of bugs, the founder has already sold his litecoins and no one knows what the hell did he do with that money.

Pick whichever you like the most both of those coins are winners you have nothing to worry about if you choose ethereum or litecoin, one or the other is going to grow up more than the other but is it really that important? Both of them are going to grow it doesn't matter if one grows 800% and the other grows 1000% you will still get huge profits if you hold for long term.

I just can recommend to everyone who calls himself a real cryptocurrency investors and true believer to hold both of them as long term in their portfolio. Both of them are one of the top10 altcoins, and has a great dev team behind. THey are also very secure, and there are also accepted on many places as payment method. So before you think to much about it, you should buy both of them. You see at the moment both are far away from their all time high, but when it starts again, they will hit these all time high easily!

I feel that ETH is more worthy of holding because its status is too stable, especially for many of the current ICO projects that are used as a token base.
