From the last failing with Litepay I don't trust LTC and team. That's why I buy ETH only and use LTC for speculative goals only. I don't think about LTC seriously. All cases that I know linked with manipulations. For long-term I hold ETH only.

In my world these are two very different coins that are not worth comparing. Because lightcoin does not have a customer interest for me and because I keep only ETH.

ETH is a good coin it is already prove itself in the market but ltc doesnt yet so it is better to invest or hold a coin that is already well known in the market unlike the coin that is good but has no good price yet.

Ltc has no practical application. it's just a coin. The encryption market is beginning to mature. Ltc will slowly lose its value. Eth is worth holding for a long time . The new coin raises funds on the platform of the ETH  . it will become more and more popular.

do you know if bitcoin is a coin too,, its just like litecoin mate
and i think ethereum have a lot of excess if we compared with bitcoin,,
so, litecoin and ethereum is good investments fro long term

ETH is my bet against LTC. ETH has a visual product that allows you to use its blockchain to create a programmable app thats allows you to connect to ETH blockchain. While LTC has a good community I do not believe it can overshadow ETH. Infact ETH is believe to be the Bitcoin killer.

Brand new to the cryptocurrency market.  Currently I hold a decent amount of LTC.  It's value has gone up nicely since I purchased it.  I've read all the predictions for LTC in 2018 and 2019.  It sounds promising as a long term hold...which is what I'm more comfortable doing...to reach $200 -$300 a coin.   I like the fact that there is a team in place trying hard to ensure it's future.  Charlie Lee may not be the most charismatic spokesman publicly but he's out there doing it which gives me confidence in his product.  Now, it's obvious that ETH is not going anywhere.  My question for the board is which outperforms the other in the next 5 years?  I tend to invest heavily in the direction that has the bigger upside.  Perhaps I should split my investing 50/50 regarding ETH and LTC?  What say the more experienced cryptocurrency gurus?

I have nothing against BTC.  I don't see it going anywhere.  It is the giant.  However, I feel the current price point is too high for my liking.

Thanks

For me, it's so ethereum obviously more interesting. LTC I use only for translations and no more than and it seems to me its value is not justifiably great, which can not be said about ethereum.

I think after bitcoin, Eth is the next big thing in the crypto world but splitting your investment to cover both ETH and LTC is not a bad idea at all

This is a very complex question, and it’s next to impossible to give a definite answer. The reason being all of these have their pros and cons and virtually no one can give you more than a speculation.

For me, ETH is a more reliable investment coin than LTC, but perhaps it is worth sharing the investment between these coins.

i dont know so much information about ltc. i havent invested in it. but i know and believe in ethereum. ethereum blockchain is very useful comparing with others. larger network size, small fees, faster transactions. and smart contracts also very useful. that is why so many icos choose ethereum blockchain.

I would also prefer ethereum, but crypto currency is a very unpredictable thing. We have seen a lot of examples of how a very good project is losing value, and a useless project is growing very fast, so you can expect anything.

I completely agree with your words about the unpredictability of crypto currency. But the fact is that among all coins, the etherium has a greater potential than anything else. And first of all, thanks to the erc20 protocol.

My choice would be ethereum because it is a platform for building decentralised applications, all of which require ethereum to run, thus creating demand from commercial applications. Litecoin has demand only from speculation.

Ethereum is a way better and serious project. Vitalik is a mad genius. Even if I lose money in the short term I trust them. To me, it's something more than just an investment.

Both are top coins and good long term buy and hold choices. Do not think you can wrong with either one so make sure to get some of both.

I think that if you're indecisive between the two, you should do something like a 60/40 or 70/30 split between the two and maximize the coin you personally prefer.

If you plan on making these two coins your entire portfolio... don't. Diversify more. I'd advise getting some ETH and LTC like you plan to, but also IOTA, XMR and one or two smaller coins like SUB, ENG or EVX.

This is my opinion, however. Make sure to do your own research as well!
