I believe that the initial purpose of crypto is to create a digital currency for making transactions quick and easy. However, in reality it has become an asset which everybody is buying and holding. Continuing doing like this will destroy the initial purpose of the coin?

What is your opinion?
Since it is not yet legal to most of the countries, I think it is more of an asset and investment. Its market value is continuously growing and becoming more expensive at a high rate making it one of the most profitable investment so far. But when the time come that it is already legal to most of the counteies, I think it will be more of a currency.

Crypto is an investment asset, because the price of some coins is too high and I can not use the crypto currency in my country to buy the necessary things. I earn in crypto currency, but then I need to exchange it for cash to make purchases.

A currency is an asset so in short they are just same by substance, asset has just a broad meaning in reality since asset can be a cash, a property tangible or intangible just like crypto which we all know cannot be seen so it is an intangible asset. Regardless of its meaning, we should have them on hand so we can enjoy their benefits.

Bitcoin is a digital currency  that was created by technology in this digital world to enable us to benefit its usage in doing easy transactions using addresses and barcodes,it is also considered as a digital asset because as times flies and holders hodl their bitcoin it will become more valuable through demands in the market that supplies cannot cater the whole world its price pumps up so most people hold their btc as an asset for future usage.

The purpose of some is a digital currency or a digital cash. But now we cannot take consider them as currency because not all are accepted by the authority. So they are merely a speculative asset rather than currency.

At its purpose, i believe that bitcoin or other cryptocurrency's goal is to do online transaction faster and easier way of transfering money. It is so happened that many people wanted to have this kind of coin because of its potential to grow and had a bigger value in future! Just like the new born cryptocurrencies most of them wanted to be like bitcoin and they used ICO for them to gain capital and have funds. But you didny know whats their real agenda or platform! And those who brought that altcoin became a stack or assest. For them to trade it in future or exchange it in real money. Still the currency of bitcoin and any other coins matter because of its value in USD. And most of the ICO have a reference in dollar value.

Bitcoin was originally invented as a digital currency but due to its limited supply, people then started holding their bitcoin as an asset to sell later when there is a high demand and at the higher price of course.

Haha, yes I agree with you. Initially the main purpose of bitcoin is as a digital currency but seeing the reality bitcoin is now precisely a valuable investment assets, even many who previously invested in gold are now choosing to invest btc

Asset nowadays. Currency is what you use to give a value to your assets, right now since more people wants to become wealthier on Cryptos they are purchasing and seeking to hold while it increases it's value, the same behavior an asset has.

maybe someday you can use cryptocurrency to buy something in your country and until that time, I think you can use cryptocurrency as your investment like what I do now. but I think we can use cryptocurrency as both an asset and a currency because I see in out there, there is a website that accepting payment with cryptocurrency and they use bitcoin as the payment. so we can use cryptocurrency as a payment too but it is limit on a few online store.

i know if we continue using Crypto as an asset then the goal of it will be a currency is destroying.
but i see the reason why people continue using crypto as an asset, it because crypto is profitable.

If you look at the history of currencies you will find that most currencies where first assets and as people began to use it more and more as a medium of exchange then those assets became currencies, bitcoin was created as a currency but it seems it is fulfilling the functions of an asset first and that makes sense, if you look at history you will know that is fine, eventually bitcoin will behave as a currency.

It is an asset. Because in basic accounting terms, asset is anything that contributes in giving you more money. However, it is also a currency but a special one. It is a cryptocurrency. Which is different from all the other fiat currency that there is in every country. This cryprtocurrency is unregulated and transactions are done through the internet. It is also mined in the digital world also through different hardware computers and electricity. The price is also very volatile compared to the fiat currency and the reason for this is again because no government or central bank regulates it.

As per my opinion crypto is both asses and currency , if you are holding it for long time then it will considered as assets and when in need to you need exchange it with real currency , so then it becomes currency . when crypto coin value is less buy it and hold it for long time ,wait for some time price to increase ,when you satisfied the with price rise as per your requirement ,then it s best to sell it and make money out of it .now a days bitcoin is rising rapidly .

We must be patient to get a good price if invest cryptocurrency, as happened with bitcoin, it took 9 years to go from $ 1 to $ 17,000 and if we are patient 5 more years then the price will reach $ 500,000.

I agree with you. Cryptocurrencies are not yet fully introduced in the mainstream before, many countries are just making their move now to understand it, businesses and merchants doesn't consider it as a form of payment. It became an investment asset due to its volatility and growing market value

For me crypto currency is an asset to have, various crypto currency might be big like bitcoin in the future so having some will be an asset to you someday, hence it will also be a currency which will be used to buy something that you need in the market or online store.

For me crypto is just technological innovation for the use of transactions or to make transactions much easier and much faster and it has no limits of borders because they are online. On the other hand they are supposed to b threats for developing economies because it is tax free

I am of the view that Crypto is an asset, as in the Bitcoin where many investors invest in Bitcoin, for the purpose of  making  gain for their investments. Also the Blockchain Technology which is not widely accepted and understood is another reason why it cannot be a currency. A currency will be generally accepted as a common currency, in which transactions will be widely accepted, and where ever exchange is required nothing will hinder its usage and its acceptability.Bitcoin is more of investment  an asset,  rather than been a currency.
