Do you think altcoins can survive without bitcoin leading the way ?
will the bitcoiners that lose faith go into altcoins or will they
just cash out and take profits ?

I personally see this altcoin growth going hand in hand with the growth of bitcoin
even though some of the altcoins already offer some exciting new possibilities

Sovryn - Brings DeFi to Bitcoin

I would like to believe that Bitcoin has already paved the way for Altcoins.
Altcoins are not dependant entirely on Bitcoin, in fact, Altcoins would do much better with Bitcoin being out of the picture.
Whoever is investing in Bitcoin and find it profitable now, would probably move to the next best coin, which in this case is Ethereum.
Whatever the case, there will always be a cryptoworld and the digital currencies will still exist with another coin replacing Bitcoin.

This is very simple answer today altcoins are there due to bitcoin. If the btc value decreases due to some legitimate reasons like country have started banning it, any other alternate space created etc will reflect the same in altcoins space and its value will also lose.

In my opinion, if Bitcoin is completely banned by the global government and the sale of Bitcoin is declared a serious crime, do you think Altcoin still has a way to go? Will certainly be banned, do not think good deed, man! However, this kind of thing in a decade, almost never happen. Haha

If it loses all of it's value (which I highly doubt will ever happen), we can say bye bye to crypto world.

Although BTC has no utility and has dinosaur technology compared to ETH and other cryptocurrencies, it is still a pioneer of this industry and it's crash would probably wipe all other coins.

I think it can survive because it do so from my perspective. I don't like bitcoin and I don't use it. Ethereum is good enough for every purpose bitcoin is used today. Most of people are lazy and don't even bother to learn there are other good cryptos except of bitcoin, but with time they will learn and we can easily cope without BTC.

Short term, if bitcoin price plummets then alts will do the same.
If bitcoin doesn't recover, then longer term I think some good alts will recover. We will need a lot of new trading pairs, maybe everything would trade against ETH instead.

If indeed the bubble pops and bitcoin collapses, that would be an indication that actually nobody really believes this is a way to store value and all the rest of the altcoins will surely follow. I think we'd all be in for a shock if that's the case.

However, if bitcoin loses its value because it's surpassed by another better altcoin then that would have zero impact in the cryptomarket overall. I would bet this will happen at some point, as usually we don't get perfection in version 1.0 of anything.

Bitcoin losing all value in the near future is very unlikely to happen but altcoins can survive without btc leading the way. All they need to have is the buying demand to keep their prices moving. Altcoins and bitcoin are different with each other and have different uses, therefore alts are not always dependent on btc price. There will come a time that they will move on their own, not being led by btc. To be exact, altcoin growth is not going hand on hand with the growth of bitcoin but rather they are naturally moving that way independent of bitcoin.

I think there can be a high chance that if bitcoin loses value, altcoins would be too. Because, the market benefits from the interplay of both coins. As one would decrease, the other may increase. Therefore, if one is non-existent anymore, then it would be difficult for the other to move and circulate that would ultimately be its demise.

All crypto market with its capitalization and so on is only about confidence. If community will lose confidence in BTC the bubble will explode and I don't think any cryptocurrencies will rise once again.

As a few others have said here, I think it depends on the reasons behind Bitcoin losing its value. If it's because of the technological limitations, then that could help some of the more advanced alts thrive. However, if it's because major institutions begin to cool off from the technology or governments begin banning it, then that will have far reaching implications for the crypto world as a whole.

we much know why bitcoin loss it value then answer

- reason is P2P blockchain  yes other with end .

-reason  is number of Bitcoin  No altcoins will increase it value .

- reason is new technology  yes other with end .

- reason is bitcoin fee No altcoins will increase it value.
and ...........

I very much agree with what you are saying here. What happens to the ALTs depens a lot on what exactly vauses Bitcoin to loose value. Is it a ban from a major country or something in the underlying Blcokchain technology then ALTs will probably go down s ince this would affect all cryptos.

Currently BTC is the main currency used when buying ALTs so something that would restrict access to BTC would negatively affect ALTs. However, a reduciton in BTC price because of high fees, slow transactions or such would instead make people look to ALTs for better alternative.
That is my two cents on this anyway Smiley.

Bitcoin led the cryptocurrency industry so if Bitcoin crashes, other cryptocurrencies will crash along with it for a while but there are couple of cryptocurrencies that will not crash because most of investors that hold huge amount of Bitcoin will not be able to convert all of their coins to fiat currency during the crash and will be forced to exchange their Bitcoin and will funnel to other coins, maybe Ethereum, Litecoin or Bitcoin Cash. However, the only altcoin that I think will surely not be affected by Bitcoin crash is the Tether because it is backed by actual fiat currency.

All coins are based on btc and rise/fall due to the depended coin of BTC. If at all market values drop significantly more than 50% or so the altcoins will also fall badly may be more than the btc drop. Only good coins will exists and rest will explode like a dump coin. May then we wont have too many coins in the market like we have today.

Such a scenario never prevails, because what we have reached in the short term of less than ten years time is a big growth. Another thing is that, bitcoin and altcoins have been related in one way or the other. So, certainly there will be some sort of impact felt upon altcoins based on the bitcoin's growth. Similar situation is taking place at present.

that sounds impossible for me but if it happened I think the bitcoin owners will switch to the second coin ie ethereum, it's impossible they wd bitcoin into dollars.
