I would like to believe that Bitcoin has already paved the way for Altcoins. Altcoins are not dependant entirely on Bitcoin, in fact, Altcoins would do much better with Bitcoin being out of the picture. Whoever is investing in Bitcoin and find it profitable now, would probably move to the next best coin, which in this case is Ethereum. Whatever the case, there will always be a cryptoworld and the digital currencies will still exist with another coin replacing Bitcoin.

This is very simple answer today altcoins are there due to bitcoin. If the btc value decreases due to some legitimate reasons like country have started banning it, any other alternate space created etc will reflect the same in altcoins space and its value will also lose.

In my opinion, if Bitcoin is completely banned by the global government and the sale of Bitcoin is declared a serious crime, do you think Altcoin still has a way to go? Will certainly be banned, do not think good deed, man! However, this kind of thing in a decade, almost never happen. Haha

If it loses all of it's value (which I highly doubt will ever happen), we can say bye bye to crypto world.
Although BTC has no utility and has dinosaur technology compared to ETH and other cryptocurrencies, it is still a pioneer of this industry and it's crash would probably wipe all other coins.

I think it can survive because it do so from my perspective. I don't like bitcoin and I don't use it. Ethereum is good enough for every purpose bitcoin is used today. Most of people are lazy and don't even bother to learn there are other good cryptos except of bitcoin, but with time they will learn and we can easily cope without BTC.

Short term, if bitcoin price plummets then alts will do the same. If bitcoin doesn't recover, then longer term I think some good alts will recover. We will need a lot of new trading pairs, maybe everything would trade against ETH instead.

If indeed the bubble pops and bitcoin collapses, that would be an indication that actually nobody really believes this is a way to store value and all the rest of the altcoins will surely follow. I think we'd all be in for a shock if that's the case.
However, if bitcoin loses its value because it's surpassed by another better altcoin then that would have zero impact in the cryptomarket overall. I would bet this will happen at some point, as usually we don't get perfection in version 1.0 of anything.

Bitcoin losing all value in the near future is very unlikely to happen but altcoins can survive without btc leading the way. All they need to have is the buying demand to keep their prices moving. Altcoins and bitcoin are different with each other and have different uses, therefore alts are not always dependent on btc price. There will come a time that they will move on their own, not being led by btc. To be exact, altcoin growth is not going hand on hand with the growth of bitcoin but rather they are naturally moving that way independent of bitcoin.

I think there can be a high chance that if bitcoin loses value, altcoins would be too. Because, the market benefits from the interplay of both coins. As one would decrease, the other may increase. Therefore, if one is non-existent anymore, then it would be difficult for the other to move and circulate that would ultimately be its demise.

As a few others have said here, I think it depends on the reasons behind Bitcoin losing its value. If it's because of the technological limitations, then that could help some of the more advanced alts thrive. However, if it's because major institutions begin to cool off from the technology or governments begin banning it, then that will have far reaching implications for the crypto world as a whole.

we much know why bitcoin loss it value then answer
- reason is P2P blockchain yes other with end .
-reason is number of Bitcoin No altcoins will increase it value .
- reason is new technology yes other with end .
- reason is bitcoin fee No altcoins will increase it value. and ...........
I very much agree with what you are saying here. What happens to the ALTs depens a lot on what exactly vauses Bitcoin to loose value. Is it a ban from a major country or something in the underlying Blcokchain technology then ALTs will probably go down s ince this would affect all cryptos. Currently BTC is the main currency used when buying ALTs so something that would restrict access to BTC would negatively affect ALTs. However, a reduciton in BTC price because of high fees, slow transactions or such would instead make people look to ALTs for better alternative. That is my two cents on this anyway .

Bitcoin led the cryptocurrency industry so if Bitcoin crashes, other cryptocurrencies will crash along with it for a while but there are couple of cryptocurrencies that will not crash because most of investors that hold huge amount of Bitcoin will not be able to convert all of their coins to fiat currency during the crash and will be forced to exchange their Bitcoin and will funnel to other coins, maybe Ethereum, Litecoin or Bitcoin Cash. However, the only altcoin that I think will surely not be affected by Bitcoin crash is the Tether because it is backed by actual fiat currency.

All coins are based on btc and rise/fall due to the depended coin of BTC. If at all market values drop significantly more than 50% or so the altcoins will also fall badly may be more than the btc drop. Only good coins will exists and rest will explode like a dump coin. May then we wont have too many coins in the market like we have today.

Such a scenario never prevails, because what we have reached in the short term of less than ten years time is a big growth. Another thing is that, bitcoin and altcoins have been related in one way or the other. So, certainly there will be some sort of impact felt upon altcoins based on the bitcoin's growth. Similar situation is taking place at present.

Altcoins are all linked to bitcoin, so without bitcoin nothing could stay stable in the market and they would die probably. Altcoins don't have their freedom. They're high dependent on the bitcoin.

Bitcoin will reach at least 1 million in few years so I don't think we have anything to worry about. Altcoins will continue to expand with time. Everyone is learning to embrace blockchain technology and bitcoin, they can't fight it. people have spoken. You'll continue to see people come and call it scam or ponzi scheme as price expands. I will be laughing along with other bitcoin supporters.

I think altcoins would also take a massive hit if that happens. Altcoin value is I think correlated to bitcoin's value, being that it is the main crypto around in the market. However, on a positive side, I don't think that there is a high chance for that to happen because the marketability and potential of cryptos are really of the charts.

It's not possible in my opinion that BTC will completely lose its entire value, it's here to stay and has proved already that it has great potential. Altcoins have to thank Bitcoin for showing the way, and lately we are seeing BTC and other altcoins moving along (before it was usually contrasting, when BTC was going up ETH was going down and vice versa) but the more dominance BTC has over the market the more it affects its entire performance. So when we'll see BTC gaining back a market dominance of about 60% then we'll see the market reacting more to how it's performing. Unfotunately if Bitcoin will fail, which won't happen, it will take the rest of the coins with it, but eventually people will realize that it doesn't make sense to follow bitcoin, as each technology is different, and the market will again adjust.

Bitcoin certainly has a huge influence on other digital currencies. we all know that currently Bitcoin is the king of cryptocurrencies, you can see how market share is owned by Bitcoin. so if Bitcoin fails and destruction then this will all affect all Altcoin. Perhaps a revolution is necessary and cryptocurrencies must be built from scratch again if this happens, public confidence in cryptocurrencies begins with their belief in Bitcoin. So Bitcoin plays a very important role and it's all like having an inseparable relationship. Altcoin is part of Bitcoin and we will feel the impact when something happens to Bitcoin.

I have observed this past few months that most of the altcoins are inversely proportional with Bitcoin. If bitcoin value is rising, mist ofthe altcoin price are dropping and vice versa. If Bitcoin loses its value, I think there are still lots of altcoins that will remain in the market and probably might reolace Bitcoin. Some altcoins are unique and have characteristics in which Bitcoin doesn't have. And their developers wouldn't let their effort just go to waste. They will try to find a way to make their coin become a success.

I don't see any hand in hand growing. If it would be like that - the price in Sat's wouldnt decrease with the Bitcoin's growth. We have all alts paired to BTC,but they dont grow together. If BTC becomes more expensive - alts don't. Because they are invisibly paired with a damn fiat called dollar. This wierd part of cryptoworld must change in future or pairing to bitcoin on exchangers is pointless.

First of all, in the nearest future Bitcoin will never lose all of its value. Too many people believe in this crypto and the amount of its capitalization is stunning. Meanwhile, even if it loses a half of its price nowadays, it will not affect much altcoins. Probably, the most stable of them will grow a bit.

If something happens with bitcomun, for example, for some technical reasons, it's okay, I do not think it will happen. We already have a lot of his clones, which keep the entire history of transactions bitcoin and practically have everything to replace it. Altoquines can very well exist without bitkoyna, because they, as a rule, have their own tasks and functions. It's hard to say who in this situation will take the lead. Maybe it will be an etherium or bitcoin in cash, this is in principle not so essential.

I don't think it will happen. But if it happens, the effect on altcoins depends on why Bitcoin loses it's value. For example if Bitcoin is banned by all the governments, I think all the cryptocurrencies will fall, But if Bitcoin falls because of some problems in its network, other cryptocurrencies will rise in price very much.

Well bitcoins has a really large impact on cryptocurrency's market so if by any chance bitcoins losses all it's value(which is most probably impossible) altcoins will rise like anything, top 10 altcoins will increase by very high percentages and most likely ethereum will take place of bitcoins.Relationship between bitcoins has always been inversely proportional when one rise other fall.

The main question should have a different cryptocurrency name than the bitcoin.
So the rephrase should have been, If ETHEREUM loses all its value what will happen to altcoins ?
The mass of altcoins basement is ETH and in particularly the blockchain of ETHEREUM So if something happens to ETH... go night night everything

I have always thought that the eventual decline of bitcoin could occur naturally and gradually, once the altcoin market is mature enough to be guided by the technical aspects of each crypto instead of its fame and popularity.
If this fall is given in a gradual way, it would not mean a trauma for the other altcoins, but in the event of a tragic event that would lead to the sudden crash of bitcoin, perhaps there would be momentary repercussions but gradually the altcoin market would recover given its undoubted utility.

I am thinking that way before but if Bitcoin loses it's value then I think Altcoins also loses their value. One of the things that will cause Bitcoin to lose the value is when there's a massive attack on its core multiple Bitcoin Blockchain servers at a time and when the whole Blockchain is penetrated and transaction data is compromised then people will loose their trust on Crypto-Currency and other digital currencies.

I think there's no way people will shift to Altcoins when Bitcoin is compromised. If someone could compromise multiple Bitcoin Blockchain servers at a time then the same thing will happen to most Altcoins and Cryptocurrencies.

Basically, what i have seen is when BTC rises the altcoins drop and vice versa. I donno know the rason why this happens. I can only say that the driving force for altcoins is BTC growth and depreciation as well. So put together, we can say that altcoins can never die as long as bTC survives and vice versa. Still I belive BTC has a long way future to go along with other altcoins as well as many are in their early ages. Keep investing and manage the risk.

This is an interesting question and I will like to answer it the way I see it! I believe altcoin like Ethereum can stand all by itself without bitcoin leading the way or boosting it's operation and independence! Ethereum is all inclusive and is more robust than bitcoin at the moment! But bitcoin is still leading the way in crypto integrity!

Yes altcoin will survive and the price of altcoin become higher too. Some altcoins always following the bitcoin price, if the bitcoin price going up, the altcoin price will going down and if bitcoin loses all its value, I think altcoin price will go higher and all bitcoin users will start using altcoins.

I think Bitcoin's price will fall sharply one day, but that doesn't mean the cryptocurrency is doomed to But it has a big effect in crpto currencies if bitcoin crashes .. It only have 21 millionth bitcoin that are circulate in the world and currently 12 million are already used ..if they reach the max circulation it also affect the crypto world and the worst btc will destroy it also affects altcoins because btc is the main reason why crypto are popular.

Where are you seeing the altcoins don't get doomed caused by the bitcoin? The fact majority of altcoin gets dumped a lot. What the heck about 12 million already used? The circulating supply was around 16.7 million. if you can't argue about the fact and it will better for you to don't spread another bullshit to the newbies. It's very clear that you are not knowing anything about the crypto rather than write another bullshit that makes others scared with your opinion.

If bitcoin loses all its value, I think that altcoin is normal and that it will be an opportunity for altcoin to grow. Because altcoin is independent, has a technically and dev team of its own, the community is separate, so if bitcoin does not exist then altcoin is still growing normally.

Do you think altcoins can survive without bitcoin leading the way ?
yes. many of the will survive but the top altcoins, at least the top 10, will die with bitcoin and get dumped even harder if bitcoin goes down. will the bitcoiners that lose faith go into altcoins or will they just cash out and take profits ?
bitcoiners don't really have much faith in altcoins if you ask me. they all are interested in bitcoin that is why they invest in altcoins, they want to make profit on their bitcoins! I personally see this altcoin growth going hand in hand with the growth of bitcoin even though some of the altcoins already offer some exciting new possibilities
almost all of them have interesting possibilities but also almost all of them add more flaws than they solve any issues. you can see ETH for example. it has 13 second blocks but it still can not handle transactions when there is a growth like cryptokitties caused! and that is just a start.

I think you can find a very clear correlation to what happens to ALT coins when we have had major drops in BTC. An even great drop has been seen in ALTs.
But at times of stagnation and gradual decline of BTC value (consensus still strong) then investors move money into ALTs to find better gains. But it all depends on teh sentiment of the crypto community. Right now no one knows what will happen with the BTC futures launches and a sudden drop in BTC value will for sure drag the ALTs with them.
Several might increase some in BTC evaluaino but go down in FIAT evaluation, then of course it is better to have your money in FIAT if that occurs.

Altcoins still have chance to survive during the increasing of bitcoin. But if altcoins want to survive, team dev need to work hard on their project to release more news and bring the price grow.

If bitcoin goes down, all of the other coins might go down as well, i dont think any altcoins will make it to the top without bitcoin, thats just my personal theory of it because bitcoin is the first one and the main or should i say the base of all cryptocurrency. Every other crypto's/ICO's is nothing without bitcoin.

The best possible outcome could be either all coin is following Bitcoin lose the value, or there is a new leader for altcoin, and it will become the 'king'. We can see the reason for it because altcoins price is correlated to bitcoin price. If Bitcoin makes a movement, altcoins get dumped.

In my own opinion regarding the fluctuation of Bitcoin that may affect other altcoins, I think most of them will join the ride.
Last Sunday, as Bitcoin, Ethereum and other major cryptocurrencies go down, so as the other altcoins. However, there are altcoins that are rising a bit while most of them are losing their value. I think Bitcoin plays a major part of the altcoin fluctuation, which of course, is the mother of all cryptocurrencies.
I maybe wrong, but it depends. There are cases that these altcoins are going down because of "panic selling".

Yes you are right. It's kinda chain reaction. If people see that money is coming out of Bitcoin, people start to fear that altcoins will lose value too. And everyone cashes out. I hope this perception will change someday in the future

altcoins grow only when the cue ball is stable or when bitcoin makes unsharp movements up or down. Therefore, if bitcoin will sharply collect the price, the altcoyins will sprinkle. But we must understand that with the advent of futures, the rules of the game do not change much. We expect a decrease in bitcoat volatility. And in general, huge money is invested in cryptory. We are still at the beginning of the journey https://twitter.com/Slava45432368

If bitcoin price crashes and loses all it's value then it can drag down the prices of ALT coins as well, though there will be chances that ALT coins will prevail and still hold some value, Bitcoin will surely impact every alt coin prices due to some alt being dependent to bitcoin prices. It can drag down alt prices but cannot make alt lose there all value.

Do you think altcoins can survive without bitcoin leading the way ?
Some will survive but not all of them will. Those altcoins that has great community and valuable asset to the crypto world are the ones that will survive even without bitcoin. The ones that has real use or those coins that are valuable to a company and mostly relying their services there. But majority of them are riding and relying to bitcoin's lead. will the bitcoiners that lose faith go into altcoins or will they just cash out and take profits ?
Majority will just hold their bitcoins whatever sequence or scenarios will take place.

The possibility of losses all the value of bitcoin nowadays, is so less percentage since its value is still increasing that gives a good performance on this year that breaks every record was made. Well, we can't predict if its value still continue, on my opinion if might happen, definitely there might some crypto like alctcoins will have a chance to replaced bitcoin, but I don't think if it might happened as I observed the flow of bitcoin as on its popularity and demand become much more also it gives profit to each and everyone of us.

+2,000 ALT's, most will be gone in 1-2 years, maybe 1/2 dozen will survive above $10, or $50M capitlization
BTC will correct big time, as the HODL'rs have been good dogs since 2013, but now its time to cash-out and diversify those faux billionaires
BTC is thin, so once say 1/2 of the whales sell 1/2, ,then the price will plummet, as the newbs fresh blood is very thin,
We start see whales dumping +1,000 for everyday for months, the cycle up/down will be dramatic, whales don't care cuz they now buy insurance via shorting the cme-brr-gs futures, they can make MOAR money when their whale sale collapses the price, thus MORE volatility
BTC will fail, because it doesn't scale, and its NOT private,
IMHO one of the ALT's will lead, something like MONERO, but the marketing of zen-cash, ethereum is already a has-been,
Most likely serious contender for #2 slot will be an 'alt' from the FANGS for micro-payment and work their way up to bitcoin.
BITCOIN will always be the bank for rich ppl, but it will NEVER be for day-trading or buying coffee
... Which ALT??
Well look at the problems
1.) No Privacy in BTC 2.) not scalable 3.) too slow for transaction 4.) mysterious creator, nobody responsible to sue for damages
Somebody will step forward to resolve the problems, somebody that ppl trust, a good name, an honest company, ...maybe IBM will deploy Watson? Who knows that the kind of Horsepower this problem needs.
For now BTC is #1 because it was first, but its a DOG, and its privacy sucks, and I will say again, it will never scale; BTC wasn't designed to be the New World Order Currency for people to pay 1 cent to use a toilet in Bangalore, and until somebody resolves this problem, ALT's will fourish.

I agree with what you are saying. Also when people are talking about BitCoin bubble crash then, yes a correction migth occur but even if it drops down 50% down to 8k then BitCoin has had an amazing run these last few months. It wasn't long ago we jsut had a drop to 3k but I don't think wew will se anything so low now even if a correction occurs. I don't think there are any good candidates to replace BitCoin as of yet. BitCoin Cash, LiteCoin and Ethereum is closest but none have the brandmark as BitCoin and as widely accepted on exchanges. This will take time to build up. It might happen and my bet would be on LiteCoin since that is the currency I use when sending cryptos between exchanges to reduce the transfer cost. It is cheaper for me to sell BTC for LTC, send ot exchange and then buy BTC for my LTC and then use BTC to buy the ALT I want. There is some exchange cost but as long as my transfers are relaively small then this is the more economical solution. Since I do this I imagine a lot of smaller trader do the same. And if LTC-ALT becomes more widespread on exchanges then this might take over as a brand imo.

Bitcoin can reflect all the altcoins market. Once the price of the bitcoin falls, the altcoins'price will follow the fall. So we can only expect the price of bitcoin to go up.

Well, for me that would be the untold great opportunity for the altcoins. But this kind of chance for the altcoins to reign the supremacy is not for all of it since there are altcoins that are dependent on the power of bitcoin. But for those altcoin that can survive outside the influence of bitcoin will take the chance as fast as they can to take the chance of supremacy over all.

Although the whole market will suffer in such a case, but i believe some coins do have the potential to replace bitcoin and be even more useful to the community.
IOTA,
Ethereum
Litecoin
Monero
Even XRB can be good replacements.

I think that we all have to agree that cryptocurrencies is the future. No matter what is going to happen to the bitcoin and the rest of cryptocurrency, new altcoins will never stop appearing. Future will show, that what we are living these 5 -6 year is a new revolution in the financial world. The world will never be the same, ever. It doesn't matter if the alts we know disappear, new and better ones will come out.

maybe altcoin can survive without bitcoin leading the way and maybe there is another coin that will come to be a leader for altcoin. but if bitcoin is ended, then I think we still have bitcoin cash, bitcoin gold and another new bitcoin that will release with the fork. I don't think that bitcoiners will lose faith and go all into altcoins but they can make a profit with altcoin too. yes, altcoin is growth with the growth of bitcoin but the price is not yet to increases and still need time before its increases back. altcoin is waiting for a good moment to get up from the lower price to higher price.

Normally if bitcoin growth, altcoin will go to the other way that is going down. So if bitcoin loss its value mean that is the time for altcoin to grow. But sometime bitcoin growth together with altcoin but only popular altcoin which can survive.

I have a feeling that pegged cryptocurrencies can keep their and maybe people will start buying into them instead of exiting the field crypto is not just a bubble there is real value behind all this money flowing in so lots of people will stick around even without bitcoin especially after we see some real problems solved from any of the altcoins

In my opinion, if Bitcoin is completely banned by the global government and the sale of Bitcoin is declared a serious crime, do you think Altcoin still has a way to go? Will certainly be banned, do not think good deed, man! However, this kind of thing in a decade, almost never happen. Haha
In such a case you are surely right, but the point of OP was different. It was about bitcoin being dumped by investors, not banned by the governments. And if btc falls down I think that some other strong altcoins like ethereum (if it becomes upgraded) IOTA (because it's a completely different from btc) and litecoin (in case people miss what they had with bitcoin) can still survive and slowly recover the market in general. I have a feeling that pegged cryptocurrencies can keep their and maybe people will start buying into them instead of exiting the field crypto is not just a bubble there is real value behind all this money flowing in so lots of people will stick around even without bitcoin especially after we see some real problems solved from any of the altcoins
Perhaps you are right that currencies like tether and ripple will survive under such conditions but that is still death of the whole decentralization and free market ideology of cryptocurrencies. Perhaps they are not so much cryptocurrencies if we put it like this. As for altcoins solving problems - well, IOTA solves block size, transaction fee and transaction speed problems and offers another way of cryptocurrency operating and existing.

If bitcoin loses its value, most of the altcoins have also come down. When bitcoin rises, most of the altcoins rises too.

Nothing will happen to the altcoins because altcoins have their own community and market and they are not dependable to bitcoin so the price of altcoins or even the life of altcoin is not depending on the market of bitcoin so even though bitcoin will go zero then it will still not affect altcoins.

That's not entirely true because Whales manipulate the entire market and not just Bitcoin. When everyone was going down, and IOTA and Stellar were going up, they were not affected by Bitcoin.

At the moment, altcoyins are very dependent on bitcoin and their price directly depends on the price of bitcoin. But in the future I believe that some altcoyins will free themselves from this dependence and will be able to live their lives, not depending on bitcoin.

I agree to your idea mate, some altcoins will depend on the value of bitcoin because as far as I know most altcoins relying the value of bitcoin. I would say if it might happened, the supports of users and investors doesn't exist anymore and I didn't think it may happend because as of this moment many investors and users relying on bitcoin as they can have a profit for their investment. Now, bitcoin's value getting high as a dominant crypto currency in the cyberworld but some chances that might be fall and I believed it can overcome all of it for just short period of time as already proven on the previous years.

To be honest, I'm just shocked by the quality of bitcoin transactions-now transactions are very expensive and they are processed very long. But Bitcoin is the foundation of the crypto-currency world, so it will continue to grow. Capitalization is growing, more and more new people are learning about the cryptocurrency and this leads to the growth of both bitcoin and altcoins. It pleases me. As the time passes by, the value of bitcoin grows rapidly for just short period of time gaining more users and investors which also cause an expensive transaction fee. Also, the altcoins having many ICO having many tokens which already listed in the market and they do the best as they can to be a good competitor from others. Thus, bictcoin grows rapidly because of many altcoins which relying on many projects and the users and investors hoping for the success on their suppoted ICO projects.

I don't believe any nation will ban a top cryptocurrency for very long. Whatever the amount of time it takes to get a bribe in there. I'd imagine a ruling would be done after people involved with said coin had a chance to bribe said individual, and this is why we don't hear about many bannings. The politicians you hear badmouting certain coins could just be looking for a handout themselves.
Seems like business is done this way in many industries.

Altcoins can survive without bitcoin. Bitcoin is the first and have a big history in Cryptocurrencies, but I think DASH, ADA, XRP and XVG can compete Bitcoin in future.
Bitcoin transactions has become very slower and have more fees, the future is an altcoin.

100% surely mate it can survive not all altcoin are depend on bitcoin theres a lot of altcoin have a high potential to market because of it real project and product. Bitcoin now a day became slower and slower theres also a lot of unconfirm transaction I believe if bitcoin loses a value theres a altcoin be rise and replace bitcoin in the future.

But when btc is going down, then all the alt coins are doing the same. So if bitcoin loses its value then all the crypto currency market lose.

I have most 90% of my stack in Alts. Probably should do more of a balance. But I believe that the product space lies within Alts; Bitcoin is the store of value, sure, but in terms of value, utility, it's with the alts, and where my investment will remain.

I personally see this altcoin growth going hand in hand with the growth of bitcoin even though some of the altcoins already offer some exciting new possibilities
If Bitcoin were to die tomorrow there would still be alt coins. The market pressure would just finally be allocated to some other(s).

I think Bitcoin will move out of the way sooner or later. It is not a long term survivor; especially with crazy transaction times and fees and the gigantic amount of electricity it consumes. The main reasons that make people hold onto it is, it's scarcity and that Bitcoin acts as a gateway between crypto and non-crypto world. In most countries Bitcoin is the only crypto which you can buy with fiat and cashout in fiat. Therefore without Bitcoin, you will see a big impact on the crypto world. But if other cryptos can step up and take that gateway role of Bitcoin, then not much issues. Like in some countries ETH is used as a fiat converter. So overall, I think with Bitcoin gone, cryptos will surely suffer, but only for a short amount of time. After that things will become normal or even better for coins like ETH!!

When bitcoin becomes cheaper the entire crypto market falls. Investors are very careful and sell the crypto currency for dollars. This happens almost always. But now it seems that BTC correction is the cause of alts growing.

I don't think people can accept the concept of bitcoin being totally phased out just yet. I believe that as bitcoin decreases little by little, the group of investors around it will grow even more making it more valuable. Bitcoin has already established a good reputation in the market making it difficult for its loyal investors to divert. As an effect to bitcoin's decrease in price, altcoins will decrease also because more investors will invest in bitcoin. The relationship between bitcoin and altcoin is directly proportional, I think. Altcoins will follow whatever path bitcoin takes.

If the bitcoin lost all value then I think altcoin will not survive even die because of the growth of the bitcoin it goes hand in hand with the growth of altcoin. so it will not be possible altcoin could walk if there isn't a team in the lead or no one walking in front of altcoin. because in the crypto bitcoin is the main thing and more like crypto only follow the development of the bitcoin.

If bitcoin loses its value, then altcoins also lose their value. You can see it at the last drops. Cryptocurrency prices depend on each other. Bitcoin sets the direction that the rest of the currencies follow.

If bitcoin dies completely we can almost be certain about the faith of the rest of crypto currency. If bitcoin fails to live, other crypto currency will follow and die the same way. This is just when bitcoin becomes totally valueless. But if the faith on crypto currency remains strong, even if the value of bitcoin may falls, other currency which offer better functions might have higher value and still live.

Up till now I was thinking that there is correlation between bitcoin and alt coins, if bitcoin falls then alt coins was also falling but last month we observe that dynamics are changing. Despite bitcoin was falling, some of the strong coins was increasing very fast.

If bitcoins collapse then so as altcoins because most investors believes the potentials of bitcoins as the mother of all coins. Who else will still invest in crypto-currencies if the mother of it collaspe? Probably no one. On the other hand, if bitcoin price went down then some of the altcoin price gone up.

If bitcoin loses all its value, what will happen to altcoin? if in my opinion Altcoin is not totally dependent on Bitcoin, in fact, Altcoins will be much better than Bitcoin if we see from fact in terms of cost, speed in sending etc. Altcoin is superior so I think the Altcoin price will continue to be in its path. And if for example Bitcoin is destroyed then there will be instead I think Ethereum will be his successor.

No, I don't see how could altcoin survive if things go wrong for bitcoin. Bitcoin dominance has fallen to just at around 33-37% in the last 2-3 months and the strength of alternative chains goes up so I see lots of support for altcoins which means if Bitcoin value decreases overtime the altcoins will probably get more investors' attention

The BTC dominance gets lower slowly for the last 3-4 months so there might be a point where it actually loses its 1st position and then the BTC price ups and downs will not matter much

I think there's no way bitcoin will loses its value, as we all know what bitcoin really is, although its price is fluctuating and sometimes unpredictable but still bitcoin is bitcoin, however when it happen I guess the same thing happen to all other coin such as altcoins when one loses its value so is the other not unless there is something going outside bitcoin world that can help generate altcoins to use without bitcoin

If bitcoin loses all its value it means that satoshi value goes to zero and then automatically altcoins also have no value because all altcoins have value in satoshi.

Maybe bitcoin loses its value because the alts take over.
There are so many alts nowadays and if more of them start increasing in value and bitcoin starts decreasing in value then altcoins can take over the bitcoin but that is unlikely.
Bitcoin has to fix the issues fast though. Segwit and Lightning network need to be implemented quick.

In many people, crypto-currency is associated with BTS. Therefore, the collapse of bitcoin, obviously, will lead to the undermining of confidence among the masses, who only recently learned about the crypto currency in the media. But many already understand that BTC is not all crypto currency. My prediction is that the altcoyins will survive in any case. But I doubt that bitcoin will collapse.

If bitcoin loses its value then altcoins will lose it too. We should remember that altcoins rely on bitcoin specially when it is a new coin. Why would they trust an altcooin when the original and first cryptocurrency lose its value. They will just prefer gold or fiat currency rather than altcoins.

Exactly my thoughts. I only invest and hold Alt coins which have real-life products or services. And stay away from those which only has promises on paper.

Do you think altcoins can survive without bitcoin leading the way ? will the bitcoiners that lose faith go into altcoins or will they just cash out and take profits ?
I personally see this altcoin growth going hand in hand with the growth of bitcoin even though some of the altcoins already offer some exciting new possibilities
Yes and no. I have monitored alts for long enough to know that some of them stay where they are when bitcoin looks shaky. They will lose their price in usd though as we've seen it many times in the past.

I have a feeling that in 2018 will see Bitcoin even out its marketcap with all the rest of the top coins and more money will also flow into less undervalued coins that have working products or promise to have products ready this year

i think that bitcoin is a big brother of all altcoins, if bitcoin loses all its value, the same thing will happen to altcoins.

If bitcoin loses all its value, all altcoins will suffer and follow suit. Altcoins are alive because of the belief in bitcoin.

Most altcoins will die , and there will be another coin to be king and be paired with other coins on exchanges.

I think that if bitcoin loses, the price of altcoin will increase. It is general situation for the cryptocurrency. Be patient if we have many bitcoins now because the price is low I think this is what is happening for the last 2-3 months It is just impossible to imagine that Bitcoin will fail wholly. There are no reasons for such conclusion. So I don’t see any sense to discuss what will be with altcoins in such situation. But altcoins are very dependable of Bitcoin that’s true.

If bitcoin loses its value it affects the whole market for a while because all other coins are moving in the direction of btc, but than there are chances for other coins as they have their own value and market achieved till time, some coin will must come forward to hold the position of btc , but this looke like a dream only in the present.
