Can we move the shares to **any** exchange?

until an exchange exists that is safe in the US, it's probably better to set up a ADDICTION specific site.

The bitfunder experience showed that even running a non-US exchange is not worth it.

some options:
1) bitcointalk thread for trading, tryion blastbob charge commission on sales for their time spent authorizing and tracking (labrat mining's system)
2) automated trustless system (nastyfan's system)
3) passthroughs: some investor buys a lot of shares, sets up their own exchange as a passthrough, charges commission or fee and sets up their own site.

That's a horrible idea and does not solve the initial problem. A dedicated exchange has the ability to solve legal problems (like Havelook is doing right now) while having an exchange for each stock only shifts the legal problems.
Also if you're holding multiple different shares it becomes highly inconvenient managing them with separate exchanges.

a bit disappointed with the Bitfunder closure, because it helps managing the shares much easily to deal with, for the users' perspective  Embarrassed

so, we're going for a direct shares then?

If you like exchanges shutting down every 6 months, go ahead.   Just because something is legal in Panama doesn't mean it is legal in the us - bitfunder all over again... It's more convenient to have separate exchanges than try to track down my BTC from disappearing websites.

EDIT: ADDICTION is different than a stock, we are customers of resold hardware. Unlike all the cloud hashing services where you buy into a perpetually reinvesting system (managed group buy), this is a legitimate group buy. I paid money and bought something. Every week I pay for electricity, rent, and for someone to check up the equipment I bought. Once I own it, I'm free to sell it to whomever I'd like. Completely different jurisdiction than those who raised money to buy, manage, and reinvest hardware that they own and sub-license derivative proceeds through PMBs. There is no shift of legal problems because there are none. The legal problems come about when we mix with securities that are regulated by the SEC. And I know the SEC is US-only, but tell that to bitfunder.

yeah stocks are not the btc way or so it seems.     well the diff adjustment came and went.

we moved from 390.9 mill to  510.9 mill  about  30.7 percent jump.   and btc is roughly 235 usd or 176 eur.

Still doing well enough to hold this gear.     for at least 35 days or about 3 diff adjustments.   if they are all 30.7

  667.7 mill
  872.7 mill
1140.6 mill

I have to think it will flatten a bit since some builders may never build any gear.

Hashfest may not deliver until  Jan.

Hey guys (and gals?),

Just a quick note on exchanges. As you might imagine our first priority is getting everyone out of bitfunder. We've heard and experienced some withdrawal issues thru bitfunder/weexchange so we urge you to transfer the shares asap.

Currently there are still some 160 users with shares on bitfunder. We hope to get this down way below 100 this weekend. We plan to start paying out directly instead of through bitfunder starting this Sunday. Also we hope that by not issuing dividends thru bitfunder anymore we get more people's attention. (this does not mean you lose the dividends of course!! We keep them seperated until the shares have been transfered out).

We have been looking at other exchanges but having seen two exchanges shutdown in a few weeks, and knowing the amount of work we will have relisting it again on a new exchange, we are reluctant to set it all up again on a new exchange. Let things cool down a bit first.

Cheers,

Why do we want more peoples attention? Also when we are completely off of bitfunder how will buys and sells occur?

By getting more people's attention I mean that we believe we might have a lot of shareholders that either don't know they own shares or aren't aware of the bitfunder closedown. We'll post a news section on bitfunder itself as well.

Buys and sells can be done through us. If you want to trade shares now just send either one of us a PM. Once the whole bitfunder deal is over we'll think of something a little more permanent.

Interestingly enough, WeExchange is failing to transfer bitcoin out due to 'technical issues'.

Should we hold onto our Bitfunder shares until the lights go out or should we start doing transfers to you?

Yeah I've heard problems with that as well, that's why I think its wise to process the direct shares asap Smiley

Please start transfers now. We don't know 100% sure if everyone used a correct BTC address in bitfunder so the transfer process should ensure we have a double check on those addresses.

We'll keep the transfer process intact though. So once again:

To do this transfer your shares to the ADDICTION account on bitfunder and send an email to p2poolnl@gmail.com containing:
- Your bitfunder name
- The number of shares transferred
- The BTC address you want to use for payouts. Make sure you use an address you actually own and can sign messages with!

Just so I am 100% sure on this...

Under transfers, I send my shared to "ADDICTION" on this line:
User name of the person you are sending to:

I want to get these off, but don't want to screw it up either.  I haven't done anything with these shares before so first time.

Don't panic yet.. Like Joele said your not the only one. Try to get in contact with Ukyo on IRC or wait for a reply on your ticket. Nothing we can do there but sit, wait and have faith.

Correct, in the field you mention you enter "ADDICTION" (without the quotes) and everything should be fine.

My transfer is also stuck at WeExchange (something error like "Cannot connect to 2nd stage server"). Up to the current moment, I still believe it is a stupid technical problem. Because Ukyo seems have mentioned in IRC that WeEx will get some official license very soon and I don't think he wants to skew up the business of WeEx.
