In altcoins things that are not in bitcoin are realized, it is possible to say the improved version of bitcoin according to the developers. For example, Dash implemented a two-level system based on the masternode  which opens up wide possibilities. In Zcash realized anonymity.
There are other altcoins in which only some constants, a name and a logo have changed, some live and thrive for example Litcoin and Dogecoin are still listed.

Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

Yes we do, variety and choice is the key to most healthy systems, it reduces corporate complacency and increases productivity. Altcoins also solve many of the general and industry-specific issues that the one-size-fits-all bitcoin and it's forks are struggling with. There is also the fact that people are drawn to altcoins as an alternative after so much bitcoin dominance, as the prevailing thought is that bitcoins 'day is done' (it's not) but that's the psychology that has underpinned the shift to altcoins.

If anyone fancy some help and guidance from a group of experienced traders we've just started a currently free signals group on telegram called CRYPTABIXfreesignals . We DO NOT do spam, scams, pumpanddumps, cross-promotion or any of that dishonest, confusing crap. We're very experienced, nothing dodgy just updates and good calls, and we're hoping to grow it into a good community. So give us a message on telegram if you need any support, hopefully we'll see you on the channel!

of course yes. we really need an alternative coins for more better options. even though there are so many option to choose who fix us up. having an alt coin is reliable to have. for example if the altcoin we really been choose before as a chosen one, got has any problem/issue in the future, how can you fix it up if even the DEVs cant find any solution for it, or just they run away. altcoin is an another ways to earn profits.

Well of course alt coins are needed. You might be thinking coins as a currencies we have for countries but they are completely different. Each coin designed to have its own use so we need all alt coins that can make life easier for us crypto users.

Yes, we need altcoins. Each and every coins have their own visions. Theu have their own reason of existence and those reasons may mean solving the problems we encounter in different aspects. But not all coins are good for every one. Each coins have their own specific target market or investors because not all of us share the same exact problem.

The word “altcoin” is an abbreviation of “Bitcoin alternative,” because at least to some extent, most altcoins hope to either replace or improve upon at least one Bitcoin component. Altcoins are an intriguing facet of the cryptocurrency landscape. They serve an important role. Decentralization is one of Bitcoin’s most prominent goals, and altcoins further decentralize the cryptocurrency community. Moreover, altcoins allow developers to experiment with unique features. But most importantly, Altcoins give Bitcoin a healthy competition. Altcoins give cryptocurrency users alternative options. We can always adopt altcoin, if in any way we feel that bitcoin is too much to handle.

Of course we need them.
Bitcoin has big limitations, and some structural problem, as anyone here knows.
So, it seem to me normal that there are offers for alternative coins.

Op, many of the altcoins exist or come into existence because yhere is a believe that are lag in some of the existing coins and that was the reason. Though some of the originator introduce new altcoins as an investment opportunities that they eant create something different and make money at the end of the day from their investment.

Of course you need, maybe not in the amount in which they appear at the present time. Some time will pass and weak projects will be cut off by themselves, will remain strong with really unique ideas and useful for the crypto world and people.

We need like 1/10 of all the altcoins but we need them. For example if there wasnt ethereum, there wouldnt be Bitcoin cash and other forks since there wouldnt be much to change.
Plus there a lot of useful projects behind some altcoins.

I always wanted to know this question, so many altcoins now, do we need so much altcoin? Or is it mostly just hype? I never understood what these altcoins did.

That's right, specifically i guess that different consensus algorythm may lead to best "proof" practices ( as PoW, DPoS and so on..) in order to create and check many suitablest consensus systems for the industries concerned ( wether coin transactions require randomness in computing, some other may better fit a hierarchic distribuited system as plutocracy or pyramidal one)
