They are traded on not very neat exchange, but if they'd reach something more-or-less ok - it'd be 5+ mln. maket cap. easily - still they have some work to do.

At this moment for me the best altcoins to buy right now or this year are these waves,  ethereum,  ripple,  qtum, taas, komodo,  litecoin,  dash because for sure this altcoins will increase more the price.  But it depends to you what is best to buy this year I suggest make a research so you can know what coin that gives to you high profit after few months or few years. Better to buy more different altcoins.

Ofcourse Monero. Why?   Because its development will finally start catching bitcoin clones. Its emission will drastically decrease. People are more and more aware how much financial and general anonymity on internet means

According to what I have been read and what I'd understand of what is the best altcoin not altcoins coz I would suggest only one coin and that is ethereum. Ethereum going to dominate other altcoins, it goes far far away from cheap price to price going to moon even now it's price really matter in almost citizens in this forum. And I guess ethereum will continues to dominate other altcoins as what it is doing in the present not just relaxing but it goes to work almost everyday. Actually as far as I know ethereum is the second payment after bitcoin equivalent.

i do like zoin.
there are some reasons.

1. if you try to read between the lines many people say it will be the year of privat coins!
2. zoin is a great project! (just compare what they can do in compare to the other privat coins)!!!
3. the price is still super cheap. i really think (i would bet!) it will be x5 compare to bitcoin price till summer!

for long term investmet i think the best option are :

1. Icon strong team , mainet lauched , 5 daaps allready announced , in next month i think they will lauch the wallet and will be listed on corean exchange.
2. Aion another interesting project , strong team, nice partnership , they are doing at the moment testnet
3. Matrix - this project have a very strong team, also at the moment is listed only on etherdelta and idex when will hit a better exchange the price will increase definetely X3-4 ...

I think it's pretty hard to answer altcoin with the best or ugly title, because sometimes times it can change.
There are plenty of altcoins out there but you need to research about it and have to find the right one. But for the long term the best coins are ethereum, and bitcoin.

1. All better anon coins
I think that nearly all better anon coins will raise in 2018, as people value anonymity so much, and it also brings some luxuries like tax evasion.
2. Platforms similar to Ethereum
2018 will be year these kind of innovative platforms, possibly doing 10 to 100x over time.
3. Lending platforms
This is very new industry growing inside crypto world. It has great potential. Bringing people credit is going to be so much popular, even for lenders.

Hype will help them being pumped but its really risky when you are investing with project that already been rise too much, I don't say that it wont jumped

In my opinion, it is better to make your own research and trust your guts.

The most of the privacy coins are undervalued right now.

The best opportunity is to find a privacy-related project with a low total supply (less than 100M), that way the price will be increasing much faster.

I recently found one project called Ethereum Meta, it is related to anonymity and untraceable transaction. They have a very interesting project to build the Anonymous E-Market Place.
