Altcoins will definitely survive, as Bitcoin cannot fulfill all the use cases that are currently being filled by many altcoins. However, I do believe that the majority of altcoins will not survive in the long term. Also, the altcoin market will likely have a correction in the near future and Bitcoin will rise once again.

If we follow this thread from November, we have to see that bitcoin price make altcoins exchange rate to bitcoin go down. But the true price must base on dollar, and base on dollar altcoins have survice and grow fast. Bitcoin is not affect to altcoins anymore

Many altcoins are made with a different purpose in mind. It all depends on how hard the developers or the team work to keep the project active and in the market. Looking at the current trend altcoins have a really good future, but if they want to sustain it the people behind the creation of these coins have to put the effort to make the coin survive in the market by constantly upgrading the tech and continuously marketing them.

I think this year is the year for altcoins, you can see almost all altcoins price increase in this year. Especially ethereum the price is really big today. Altcoins will keep survive, even bitcoin fall, altcoins will stay remain. The demand of altcoins is increasing though.

Some of the altcoins will survive because people need to invest their money and want some good trades and exchange rates. Just like other altcoins, they are rising and as much as possible they want to continue their project for them to also benefit themselves (referring to the developers). I think there is sufficient space in this ecosystem for several altcoins to exist - especially those altcoins which actually bring something valuable. The useless ones are only useful for short term profits.
