Until Bitcoin is alive altcoins will survive for sure. Each country and each institution is launching their coins as ICO and want to be a part of the crypto market to make their transactions in digital way. You can see in bounty section that each day at least 5 to 6 ICO's are launched, we cannot assume all the ICO's as potential but somewhat good to see more ICO's coming in which is a positive sign for altcoins.

Bitcoin does not used for any large project, but some altcoin like Ripple or Ethereum were used to build many companies, services, etc. Example recent is Ethereum release DAICO for ICO investment through its blockchain.

Yeah I'm quite sure that altcoins will really survive and grow in the crypto world today because altcoins had already been in the crypto world now for quite a time just like ethereum which is the second most trusted which also has the second highest market value in the crypto world today. So its much better to invest in altcoins right now while their market values are still low so we can be able to buy as many as we can and gain bigger profits as soon as their market values start rising again.
