It just also depends on the developers team and its support. But most of them like shitcoins won't survive.

Not all altcoins will survive for example are those fraudlent coins who just create a coin to gather funds and then run away. Though just like bitcoin, the markets shake every now and then. but instead of instilling fear, its more encouragement to invest while the price is down as it will still go back in future.
