such litecoins are better than others because others I think are still in the process of becoming popular.

Gotcha.  I saw John Mcafee tweeted this out about litecoin https://twitter.com/officialmcafee/status/934410235070083073

Nice, me too like the litecoins. Devs is very active in twitter too and I do read his tweet. He resigned I from his job last year ? or this year just to have time for the litecoin development. This coin has very huge potential also.

I think that Monero has a lot more potential just because of its privacy focused features.
We're now seeing that governments are doing everything they can to track Bitcoin transactions and balances just so they can tax it.

You don't have that problem with Monero and that's what makes it valuable, something that's only going to matter more in the future.

I myself prefer monero because of its rapid price increase and very profitable when invested.
but LTC is not bad either.

The 2 coins that I don't hold. I keep trying to figure out why but I think the price just has never been right when I want to buy them. I think Charlee Lee has some aces hidden up his sleeve for Litecoin, and Monero just wont stop, plus Fluffypony is great. I'd get both If you see a good price!

Hehe I agree, for so long now he doesn't care about promoting, just working working on the tech and seems so careless when people want him to hype LTC. But now all of a sudden he seems to start banging the ltc drum and smirking. My guess is breakthrough in scalability + atomic swaps with btc will allow ltc to return to 3rd place.

I prefer Litecoin due to its faster transaction speeds. However, if I had to choose a privacy coin, I would choose ZCoin as I feel it has a slight advantage over Monero.

Now LTC looks more stable than Monero. It seems to me that for maximum profit you have to buy both these coins and wait a few years. Monero is also a very interesting coin which can grow significantly.

Monero is a privacy coin... they wont even know you own Monero if you are careful

Privacy coins will be wave of the future. Why do you want to show all your wealth on the blockchain so that your neighbour can see all your transactions?

Thanks for the responses, I read on a reddit forum in which someone said you eventually could go to jail for owning monero......kinda made me second guess.

Take a look at the latest privacy coin:

or

lets see how important privacy will be when there will be no state around you anymore

Monero offcourse, some countryes might get it illegal, but not all, what do you think that countryes don't want drugs, guns and other shit to sell? if they wouldn't want that, they could wipe out whole planet of drugs and such things, but nooo, get the drugs, get me guns and stuff, let's kill each other asap... they want this, and at the same time they're like, ohh, bitcoin should be under our control, so don't get me started, for now, I think you're clear for using monero...

Honestly if you have the capital and are comfortable taking losses sometimes I would just invest in both. If you keep current with events and prices you can hedge your investments as you go. I think the market is way too speculative and fragile to really make any accurate predictions. I just think a wide portfolio is better than a narrow one right now for alternative coins if you can afford it. my main concert with Monero. I like the technology behind it and everything else, but let's be honest - it's currently used mostly for dark net / illegal stuff. I think governments, when they start to crack down cryptos, will first start looking at coins that offer anonymity.

Hi Guys,

I'm a noob to the crypto space but have some money in BTC and ETH, if you were going to get a 3rd coin would you go with XMR or LTC?  I like the anonymity with Monero but get worried that govts could intervene.....Leaning towards LTC.

Any help would be great, thanks.

I would also choose Litecoin, as I believe it has the better future than Monero. It lives longer, and it is fast. Here is the video that is about speculations on the theme of what to choose — LTC or Monero. It was made 3 months ago, but it gives cool ideas.

They are both good.  Why don't spread your bet on both?
They both have some good development progress, with some planned marketing/operation execution.

Monero is a good choice to be the third coin you'd like to have. It's secure,  private,  untraceable,  and fungible. I think it brings additional value to the cryptocurrency market because of its huge focus on privacy. Many people may fall in love with Monero because of that reason which would lead to the growth of the price.

In between Monero and Litecoin, I would prefer to chose Monero. Both coins are doing great as of now but in terms of security feature, Monero is ahead because it offers privacy for its investors. Monero also maintained its price so it is less riskier to invest with monero.
