Yes, even if it shows 2500 left to sync, hover your mouse over it.

It will show Spot Block / 2500, Right now Spot Block = 24

Don't let the difficulty dissuade you guys, everyone wants a high starting difficulty to avoid insta mining. Here it is, it will drop fast and rise fast as well. Stick with it and over time the law of averages will work for you here.
