there was no instamine. I mined my first block at around 300sh with my little Xeon cluster, and it was already pretty hard to catch a new block. It was much much easier to get Primecoins for the first three days with the same cluster.

Difficulty is fluctuating up and down. It was up way past 100 at one point.

At 80, you'll find a block every few hours with an i5 quad core class chip. If you have the hardware, better to mine than to buy at this point. You'd only buy if you were speculating and expecting a big jump in price sooner than you could mine the amount you wanted.

Even if he then realised the mass of coins he got in a short time  could actually be sold for more does not make it a lie.
