I think that investing in bitcoin is safer than investing in altcoins. Although I'm not 100% sure because I saved some of my favorite altcoins.

True, but during the bull run if it will come this year, we will see more profit in altcoins than bitcoin.
If you do not want to take higher risk, stay with bitcoin, but last year the most profitable AFAIR was Ripple and it's an altcoin.

I prefer eth and neo to other altcoins, although altcoin is good and seems to be going up for the long term, but I see it because eth is very important for the world of cryptocurrency and I am sure it can even replace bitcoin positions in the future. Eth & Neo are both smart choices but if you want to become rich from Altcoins the easiest way is to invest in high risk Alts in the hope that they'll moon.

As of now, it's not considered as the year because altcoins are not performing well.
2018 is in the 2nd half of the year, so there are still time to recover, who knows, there will be another bull run that will come and altcoins will pump hard.

A good pick, I think that any coins that we believe in will do good are the ones that end up doing well in our minds. If the project is something that you believe in then there should be nothing stopping you from investing in the coins that you chose. For me the top five altcoins that I believe would make me rich is ethereum, monero, neo, litecoin and dogecoin.
