Does anyone using a K35 8 GPU motherboard know if the fan headers on it are speed controlled or just on full tilt? I can't see anything fan-related in the BIOS…

Can someone who has paid BTC for NewEgg purchases help me out possibly?

I just tried to do this for the first time but got stuck at this point:

- I want to pay from either my Bittrex wallet as I sold off a few alts in order to pay this invoice (I assume this is possible).

- After choosing Bitcoin payment option on NewEgg, the bitpay window pops up wit hteh QR code (on the scan tab) for a phone scan.  Since I want to pay with exchange wallet, I click on the Copy tab and the exact amount of BTC appears, along with a URL that starts with bitcoin... https//bitpay.com.... followed by a string of numbers that doesnt look long enough to be a BTC address.

- The instruction say to copy that full URL into your wallet's send screen, but I don't think this will work in the BTC address field send screen on Bittrex, will it?  Doesnt that need to be a standard BTC address only?

Am i missing something or can you not send payment from an exchange wallet like this?

Does Newegg accept BTC payments? Newegg.ca didn't give me this option during my last purchase last month

Yeah, newegg.com absolutely does.  I did a bit more reading and it seems likely that you need to open a bitpay account/wallet in order to use that option but any advice from Phil or others who have used it would still be appreciated.

This happen to me just last week when I tried to pay my January hosting bill at GND.
After talking to GND.... the solution was to install Bitpay app on your mobile (I use a Samsung Note 8 ).
I never did have to do that - looks like Bitpay changed their internal process and forcing everyone to use their app.
Fund your Bitpay wallet (treat it like a mobile wallet) and use their builtin QR scanner to pay.
Good luck.

The server PSUs that I like are the HP 1,500w common slot PSU (yellow label on top, takes 220v) and the DPS-2000BB (220v).  I use them with breakout boards, not wires.  You can strap or screw in a heatsink on the HP 1500w units and that will help keep them cool and the fan noise to a minimum.  Easy to fit one of these into a 4U Rosewill case (HP PSU).  Can't speak to the particular one on Ebay.
Quote
DO you use a passive heatsink or one with a fan? I presume you just dab some thermal paste on and zip tie it to the exterior of the PSU? Noise isn't a problem for the server PSUs out in our dedicated mining portion of our barn, but if we ever have any in the house it certainly would be an issue...

Depends.  In an open rig, simply passive.  Take out six screws, remove the top, apply thermal paste, clamp the heat sink to the top, drill, screw in four screws.  In a 4U, I place the HP along the floor of where a normal ATX power supply would fit and I mount a fan on the outside back of the case to blow cool air over the fins.  You can also zip tie to keep the heat sink in contact with the top of the HP.

I use these heat sinks:

there is this note on top of the Bitcointalk page ... I think you need to be careful if you are using Electrum

yeah that format sucks. i used mycelium on android. scan the qt code and go. even fills in all the data (invoice #, USD price, btc amount, merchant - newegg in my case) in the mycelium transaction screen. so that part is nice.

doesnt core have something like that? set core up as the default payment processor for things like that? never tried it so dunno.

But anyway, enough about this. Here's my latest construction... 3x Scythe UltraKaze with Silverstone grilles in front to save my fingers from certain chopping:

Very diy Grin but I guess it'll do the job. I'll fix the thing to the 6x Vega rig tomorrow.

this is cool

compared to mine, this looks better and tidy

how do you daisy chain the power on the 3 fans ?
Don't intend to... There's 3 fan connectors on the mobo, so I was thinking I'd just use those. If the wires are too short, the fans come with Molex adapters so I'd just plug'em straight to the PSU.

looks pretty tidy actually. is that bracket on top one of those rails you slot shelf brackets into?

i just cant help but wonder if it would hover if you lay it on its side while plugged in..
Hehe looking at these Scythe fans, they probably would! Cheesy

It's indeed a rail for shelving I just got for a buck at the hardware store around the corner. I would have preferred an L-shaped bracket, but the ones they had were too thin and had too much flex.

I'm getting super jelly, to use an old South Park phrase, seeing all this Onda porn. As soon I as I get mine (and find some GPUs for it - looks like everyone is out of everything once again) I'll use my current clamp meter to determine which of the wires on the molex, sata, cpu, etc. connectors are actually in use; I seem to recall that being a question back in the 6th altcoin thread.

Is this thread actually about altcoin mining?

It's hard to filter through the hardware wallet and mining hardware talk to find people talking about mineable alts.  Am I in the wrong thread here?

Is this thread actually about altcoin mining?

It's hard to filter through the hardware wallet and mining hardware talk to find people talking about mineable alts.  Am I in the wrong thread here?

This is mining section of alts   and wallets along with hardware are needed to mine alts.
If you are looking for picks of what coin to mine.  There are picks of coins to mine. There is a lot of info on alts in general and sometimes in specific.
If you are looking for something else  have some fun reading as  there are 7 threads in all with over 300 pages of info.

Thread Six is here

thought i read someone had found the sata and molex connectors only used the 12v and ground lines (he disconnected the others) but i cant remember what board, and he didnt mention the cpu/atx lines. be useful info to know if i change to a server psu with pico adapter for my b250 d8p v1 board.
