Question for you AMD Gurus out there - I've never owned one, just always went with the newest i7's for my desktops -

I upgraded my trading computer to a Ryzen 7 with an ASRock X370 Killer. Threw in 2 watercooled 1080 Ti's in it that's it.


So I go and run XMR stack, and it's showing hash for AMD card along with the CPU's... wtf?? I have no idea why this is if anyone can let me know how this is even possible that would be awesome. It's also valid on the pool side as well, since I was thinking maybe it's just glitching out on my local side.


Anyways, not complaining, just saying it's kind of crazy. It can't be the 1080 Ti's since I have the cuda backend deleted as well.

normal  it will do that.

I know some ways around it.

mine the cpu to crypto night and do not check the gpu's

Ah I see it now - it's actually stealing 35% of my Mh/s from 1 of the 1080's.

unfortunately I can't change to cryptonite yet - I fucked up and started to mine on supportXMR and they have a .3 min. payout, I'm only @ .1 XMR right now. Such a pita but I have a bunch more Ryzen 7's coming for new builds, hopefully hit that .3 and change to a more profitable algo. So stupid of me.

Never heard of minerparts.  Looks like a a bunch of old stock items.  I would just get Mintcell v006c 6pin powered risers.  I use about 80 of these and never had an issue besides the insulator foam falling off.  https://www.amazon.com/MintCell-6-Pack-Powered-Adapter-Extension/dp/B06ZY2R85P/  I think he has a store on newegg too.  Just make sure you are buying from Mintcell and not a clone.

XMR-Stak is a weird program, in my (very limited) experience. The first time you run the executable it prompts for wallet address, pool/port, etc., then generates a few files that are specific to your CPU and GPU(s). Don't copy these files to a new machine and expect it to run properly, especially if you change GPU teams (ie - from red to green or vice versa). Also note that Cryptonight/Cryptonote miners seem really benefit from having "Large Memory Pages" enabled in Windows 10 - and run as an administrator to take advantage of such.

By default XMR-Stak uses both the CPU and all GPUs to mine, and yes, Ryzens can dish out a surprising amount of hashpower; my Ryzen 5 1600 is humming along at better than 400 H/s right now (using Claymore CPU miner 3.9, but got nearly identical results from the CPU portion of XMR-Stak) mining one Cryptonight coin while the RX 570 in this computer is mining another coin at 724 H/s (using a newcomer, AMD XMR Miner v0.65b https://www.amdxmrminer.com/ - highly recommended if you don't want to use your CPU to mine, or use it to mine a separate coin like me).

You may feed XMR-STACK with command-line options for wallet address, pool/port, etc. if you are making some massive deployment. And if you are not using some obsolete GPU you will have good chances to get optimal performance settingth automatically. Large memory pages can nearly double CPU hashing performance not only in Windows but in Linux also. My old I7-3770K get stable 270 H/s without any OC with Large pages enabled. You can expect even more if you have CPU that features big L4 cache.

 Mintcell does sell via NewEgg - not sure on how many different items, but definitely their v008 "3 way power" risers in various sized "packs".

My office PC currently has a trio set-up;

EVGA 1080ti
ASUS Turbo 1080 blower
Zotac 1070ti mini

They mine well and generally stay cool, but they are a little noisy. Has anyone installed a trio of watercooled cards? does it work having slots 2&3 adjacent to each other? most all-in-ones still have a blower fan that would be obstructed on slot 2.

Believe it or not, the miner supply issue is continuing to worsen.  Not only are essentially all good mining cards gone (off retail market anyway), but now it is nearly impossible to find any mining mobo (that supports 6+ GPUs) and it's even carried over into the PSU market, where 1000-1300W PSUs typically used for mining are mostly gone.  This continues to baffle me, but I guess just goes to prove that the majority of the world still either doesn't know about or doesn't believe in the longevity of crypto. To me, this shortage seems worse than the one back in Q2'17.

The really crazy thing is not that 3rd parties are trying to price gouge (not completely against this actually, as everyone deserves a chance to make a legal buck) but it's the fact that there are a lot of people actually paying these 2x, 3x, even 4x retail prices for components.  Here are a few I have observed lately:

- 6-pack of rx 570 8gb sold on ebay for $3,400! That's close to $600/card lol, or 50% more than retail for a Vega-56 lol.
- Several USED Vega 56's selling on ebay for over $900!
- Many mining Mobo's with retail prices at or below $100 are going for over $300!

I actually ordered an Asus Prime Z270-a from Amazon for $150 but it's not in stock and no indication of when it will be in stock. I actually have another ASRock BTC board but was looking to build my next rig with an 1151 chip i got for half price. Plus, I like the the idea of easily being able to accomodate 7 GPUs with a relatively easy path to an 8th via the M2 slot.  So, end-state goal would be 7-8 1070ti/1080 with my 1500W Plat PSU. of course, I only currently have 4 70ti's but more have to come in stock eventually... don't they? ;-)

The fans are 3400rpm delta fans, plenty of airflow to keep my 1070tis at 60 degrees, and 1080ti blowers at 65 degrees. However my Inno3d 1080tis, some of them positioned between the fans hit 80 degrees while some are 65.

Overall very happy with them. Almost converted my entire farm to these now. These are loud, not something you want in your home.

Cable management space is very tight for my 7x 1080ti rigs.

I got plenty of Biostar TB250 BTC, risers and ram if anyone wants to shoot me an offer.

Prices before shipping. It cost me $80 USD to ship each empty rig case, and $130 or so to ship 10 mobo to Malaysia. The first seller also offers the full prebuilt with mobo,ram,ssd,cpu, china psu for $640. But it's cheaper to buy them seperate and build them myself. Also because I have plenty of ssd and cpu to take from my biostar 6 slots

The first slot is blocked by the mobo cable (not like I have enough power for a 8th card anyway, need those new 2200W evga psu). I use it for cable management space.
