Haha that is true...well maybe they will add MEG then anyways, thogh I would rather like them to not add any new coin, unless it realy is inovative/ has a good dev team. Atleast MEG is fighting for 3rd place in the poll, so how knows, they might end up adding it

The coin will not die because it has his own specificities and it is exempt from negative background like premine, scam and stuff.
The day it is announced on cryptsy, tons of primecoin/quarkcoin miners will come and more devs will follow.

I think of it as dead because of the uneven distribution...but how knows, maybe if they dump at a low price it will again get distributed more evenly over time. I guess it would be an interesting experiment

Running memorycoin-qt-31-08-2013. Connects to a few nodes but gets stuck updating at about 9 weeks ago. Is this a good version or is there a better one?

Sorry for offtopic, but Momentum is going to be even worse than Primecoin. Or better, if you are CPU miner
|
Of course I gave you bad advice. Good one is way out of your price range.

Sorry for offtopic, but Momentum is going to be even worse than Primecoin. Or better, if you are CPU miner Very ontopic I think. This from the paper - >This paper introduces a family of memory-hard proof-of-work algorithms that can be validated in milliseconds while requiring gigabytes of memory to solve efficiently. MemoryCoin has a long hash time (approx 0.5 seconds) - and the validation is just as long. This algorithm promises to cut the validation time down which would solve a host of the problems MemoryCoin was seeing related to the client stability, creating pools, synching the blockchain time. We're still poking at the algorithm and hashing out some of the details (excuse the pun), but I'm optimistic there will be a Memory-hard algorithm that's more workable and with greater credibility than any previous effort.

I try to open it and nothing happens (no error, no reaction, nothing)... FYI, other qt-clients (like the CGB client) work just fine and befor I reinstalled Windows the MemoryCoin client worket as well, but now it wount start up

And you should cd in the directory with the database.

Strange thing, I have alrady startet with the command line (with this command in a .bat : C:\Users\Pascal\Desktop\MEG\memorycoin-qt.exe pause) And it gives me nothing, the command line starts and then nothing happens... And you should cd in the directory with the database.
Sorry, what do you mean with that? What is "cd"?

Sorry, what do you mean with that? What is "cd"? "cd" is the command to change directory when you are in command line, ie : in a dos box. for more info, you could use the parameter : -debug and look in the debug.log in your memorycoin directory

For those of you who were interested in MemoryCoin - I think you'll find ProtoShares very interesting too - very similar parameters. It's like MemoryCoin without the voting, better algorithm, better support, and backing too. Read more here. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=324694.0
