Please excuse my ignorance but is (Pennies) and (Cent)
 the same coin?

BTC is for Bitcoin, so is CENT for Pennies?

Technically not dying off (heck people are paying silly money in XPM for them), the problem is with the stake bug there is no point in mining and the amount of coins you are gaining every week is massive causing the price to hit a point where it is not sustainable. You just end up several hundred billion coin sell walls that will never be met and people holding trillions.

Not to mention the blockchain bloat that is happening in order to keep stakes working...

Once it is fixed i am sure it will be fine (and agree with the suggestion that it is forked and the coins are divide by a billion or whatever) but the coin was never really that serious to begin with Tongue

Not sure exactly (been meaning to look into that ). Somewhere between 922,337 trillion and unlimited Tongue

or if you are talking about the stakes, the maximum transaction size is 1 billion. So cannot have more than 200m per input or it wont stake.

Just realized I was off by a decimal place: 9,223,372 trillion (int64) and unlimited. But not sure if there is a cap somewhere before that.

So why was worth so much in September?
Speculation like always I guess (That is about when it was first hitting exchanges). Might have been worth more back then due to the stake bug not being as evident and numbers being smaller (2k was large, kinda like 900 billion is now). Biggest surge was actually a few weeks ago i think.
