The possibility of ethereum overtaking bitcoin is very bright. Ethereum was launched on a platform based on smart contract which has invariably resolved the scalability issues always associated with bitcoin, ethereum has also a very good store of value and it has a team of talented developers, I am very optimistic with time ethereum is taking over bitcoin but not in 2018.

i think its not but ethereum can be still at the second place. bitcoin cannot be beat by ethereum because bitcoin is not giving up until the end of the world.

how it called stability ? ethereum only up because of the news that it will be hardforked. maybe it is stable but to up like bitcoin or change bitcoin, i think it is still impossible

I think it can because other investors transfer there investment on bitcoin to ethereum and many people patronizing ethereum because of the impressive price increase of this.

The only thing that Ethereum has and bitcoin doesn't is smart contracts.

Ethereum main purpose is not to store/transfer value, but is to create and maintain smart contracts , so it doesn't aim to beat bitcoin or something like that, it is just a crypto currency that has a different features and a different purpose.

Ethereum won't beat bitcoin because bitcoin is going to launch a new feature of smart contracts really soon, and once it does it, ethereum won't really have any purpose and will slowly decrease in price.
I think that smart contracts is a very important feature, but if we can launch it on the bitcoin network, then ethereum won't have any reason to exist.

Not really, even with the current situation which I can predict that the price of ethereum should be worth half of bitcoin price, we might have to struggling to reach that especially the lightning network of bitcoin available soon makes bitcoin user feel so confident. Not really easy to achieve something like that.

ethereum can beat bitcoin in terms of multiply profit as ethereum have its low market value than bitcoin.
but inthe term of bitcoin price now in the market no one can  go higher that this as bitcoin will still remain a father for them all and many people are into bitcoin capability and uncontrol by any government nor developer.

there is a possibility,  if bitcoin blockchain traffic and delays continues.. anyways the energy consumption of etherium is way too less in comparison to Bitcoin.bitcoin takes more time to transmit the coins while Etherium is very fast.

Bitcoin traffic is very slow, but still i don't think that there is possibility for ETH to beat it.

there may be a possibility as people now tries to look for a way in order to escape from high transaction fees of bitcoin.
added to that there are a lot of erc20 token that will always depend upon ethereum.

For me, its slim changes that ETH will beat BTC.
Bitcoin has encountered heavy traffic on there transactions and once these problem will be fix with the implementation of lightning fork. The transactions of BTC will be at max. 24 million a day.
BTC will still the king of cryptoworld.

Your right, Ethereum is growing very fast this month as well as bitcoins. I believe that eth coins can really beat bitcoin if there are a lot of people who are going to be interested on investing this coins consistently and maybe in the future ethcoin will be the first bitcoin to beat bitcoins.

No ethereum cant beat bitcoin but 2018 ethereum will be a great year for ethereum,it will follow bitcoin what bitcoin did last year ethereum will do the same.
