A simple question, does anyone here s got any working crypto debit card besides Bitpay for US residents? Is there anything which works in Europe and the fees are not going to make me cry?

Once more, I d like to hear experience of people who have the card working ATM, not that preorder stuff.

Thx

I do not see sense now to have such a map. To pay by bitcoin you will not succeed. For shopping you will have to use intermediaries in the exchange of bitcoins for Fiat. It is more expensive than selling bitcoin on the exchange and withdraw Fiat to a Bank card. I hope that the situation will change in the future but this would require bitcoin really become the currency.

I did quite some research and:
* Mistertango has fees that make it worth working with only if you go with some 0.5 BTC on each deposit. So .. no.
* XMLGold.eu 's owner is in vacation, I assume, I still wait for answers, see here
* Uquid thread seem to have more scam accusations than anything useful.
* Some said nice words about advcash.com, I just started testing them I cannot tell much. Their cards do work in Europe, but each deposit contains a "bitcoin gateway fee" of some 10 EUR. People claim that they have quite some hidden fees.
* Monaco has a long waiting line and no people to tell they've been using it. And for most of their cards you need to hold a stash of their coin for 6 months.

Any addition to the list is welcome.

There was Tenx who had a working card but then the whole Wavecrest debacle happened and now we are here. They are in talks with another provider but they can't leak any details as of yet which sucks but I am confident they have somebody else behind!

WaveCrest shutdown has affected most of the bitcoin related debit cards, most of them used WaveCrest as a card issuer and service provider like XAPO, Tenx, etc... It just happened last week, so if the wallet providers had no backup plan to change the card issuer partner if needed, we have to wait maybe longer then we expect... And no anonymous cards will be present in the future, VISA has a clear regulation about AML and KYC.
I know that the bitcoin debit card was the easiest way to use bitcoin for payments in real life, but we should wait for LN to start and it could also help the everyday transactions, we won't need a card but just a mobile wallet if the merchants will accept bitcoin payment via the LN network...

Honestly, the only viable solution I see right now is to wait for Monaco to come to market. Their offer is the only one that seems to guarantee proper compliance. No point investing in some of the WaveCrest survivors even if they come back with a new issuer... they've demonstrated gross incompetence to say the least. The few other cards out there... very few... look  suspicious, unreliable, or outright cost too much.

As far as people wishing for anonimity, you can forget that when it comes to major circuit cards. Visa, MasterCard, and any other major processor will _never_ risk its entire existence to let you have a KYC/AML-less card.

No real good reason for one anyways,.

Major bitcoin debit card providers such as CryptoPay, Wirex, TenX, and Bitwala have issued statements informing users that all VISA card operations have been cancelled effective immediately following urgent communication from card issuer WaveCrest. With zero notice, this leaves thousands of debit card users around the world trapped with no access to funds.

I dont think Monaco ll get their card out before Tenx, I m almost sure Tenx will do it first. Why? Cause they ve had over 200k active cards before this Wavecrest issue while Monaco s got 50-60k applications. Who do you think major companies will go after?

What about Wagecan, anyone using them?

Why in the world would you trust your custom with a company like TenX that has just demonstrated terrible decision making, and poor contingency planning?

These companies are as good as dead, they went for the low hanging fruit, and fell with the rotten apple they swarmed around.

Even if TenX does find another issuing partner, it isn't that fast to go back to the market, and I truly hope not many customers are willing to put themselves at risk again after this experience.

Let me counter that with a question, why in the world would you trust a company like Monaco which promised their clients rewards, people bought their ICO token mostly cause of that, then Monaco said "geee, not possible sorry" How is that not a terrible decision making and even worse contingency planning??
There is no way I d ever hold their card after that.

With Tenx, they did great job before this Wavecrest issue. If they do not keep their promises, I ll move to Bitpay or something else. I value my money too much to give it to incompetent players. For now, Tenx seems to have 4x more client compared to Monaco, that is the fact. They also had a card 3 months before Monaco, as far as I know Monaco has not even started delivering cards and I used Tenx card 2 months ago. In my book, they beat Monaco on every front. Let us see who delivers new cards first.

Also, please do not derail this thread, if you d like to continue this discussion, pls PM me.

This is hardly derailing a thread. If a person wants to choose a debit card, they ought to have as much information as possible, and the quality of the issuing company is, I'd say, quite on topic.

TenX had to do exactly the same with their token, except they had to rush it out last minute. They broke the same "promise", and that's simply because what they were offering was clearly pointed out to constitute a security (which would have caused delisting from exchanges). Again, Monaco had the honesty and forethought of doing this in good time and transparently. TenX did not.

Sure, they had cards issued sooner. Cards issued through a shady partner where every other card was going to to avoid having to do any real work. Quick to market, quick off the market.

Monaco is taking things slowly, and they're going much further. They have succesfully obtained VISA membership, and they partnered with a world-class manufacturer/issuer.

Now, existing cards are, IMHO, either shady or too expensive. Or dead, in TenX's case.
The honest answer to OP is to wait for a company that has been doing things well.

It would be awesome to have a crypto debit card but thinking about the fees makes me prefer to just exchange the coin to fiat and spend it normally. I have heard about TenX and some were able to successfully use it not sure about Europe though.

Yeah i ordered xapo bitcoin debit card in 2016, allows me to spend bitcoins on ATMs and online shopping websites, i can take a lot of benifits from this card. You can simply deposit bitcoins into your xapo wallet and spend them as like fiat anywhere where debit cards are accepted.
The fee is bit higher but almost affordable than other card providers

The honest answer to OP is to wait for a company that has been doing things well.

As I ve said, if case Tenx fails to deliver additional value to their token in a form of some kind of reward, I ll quit using them immediately. However, I am 99% sure they will not do this cause if they wanted to go that way, they would have done it by now. So I would not say then broke their promise, they are just a bit late on that.

Besides, let me ask you one thing, what happens with Tenx Pay token price if they do start delivering some form of payment, ha? It ll go to $50 long term. Lots of other companies already deliver some form or reward payments. Kucoin does it, Bankera does it, etc, etc. How come they have no problems with that? So it s not something cannot be done, it s just Monaco cares more about selling cards to US market then to keeping their promises since US regulations are the only issue related to securities. EU and the rest of the world does not have problem with crypto rewards. So they opted to go back on their promise so they could make more money. So no, they will not see a dime from me. Reputation cant be bought.

On the other hand, what value does Monaco token hold without rewards? Why did people buy it besides to give free money to Monaco company? Without rewards, card tokens are based on speculation only and this is hardly something which is related to real businesses.
